Timberlake Country Club
About
Timberlake Country Club in Chapin sits on the shores of Lake Murray, just outside of Columbia in the Midlands of South Carolina. The classic design is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links courses, featuring a combination of water and pot bunkers as well as large grassy swales. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills, which provide plenty of contours and elevation changes. From the elevated tees, golfers will have a dramatic view of the rugged landscape. The golf course is mostly open though there are a few stands of mature trees that can be troublesome if you're not careful. The cavernous bunkers and carefully molded mounding present formidable challenges that will test even the best golfers. In addition to the golf course, Timberlake also offers a full driving range and practice green as well as tennis courts and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

4th hole par three. Pond in front and lake to right and back Photo submitted by u631580812 on 07/01/2019
First timer that was not disappointed!
Friendly staff, challenging but fair good looking course, I have been hesitating to play here because of some reviews but I was pleasantly surprised! Greens are good and rolling, maybe one or two greens on the course need a little TLC but overall a very pleasant place to play!
Fair but has opportunity
Good layout, through the neighborhood, but needs some TLC with the greens and cart path.
Feel bad for the members
Great layout and some cool looks but the course is not properly maintained. The greens are terrible, super slow and necrosis everywhere. Would not recommend to anyone.
Course in ok condition
Some changes since I played here last year. The practice area is one, the cart pick up is another, staff has changed as well as cost of practice balls. The chipping area is nicer, the synthetic grass mats was moved back and made into a row with larger grass area. The carts are no longer at the drop off area. They are at the bottom of the hill at the pro shop where it is easier for staff to assign cart # to your group. First staff I in countered was at the cart storage was upbeat, offered a ride down to the pro shop to check in and get cart. The guy at check in was not as upbeat and aloof. Seems as he could be a jerk but was not to me. The range balls are as expensive as I have seen, $7 for a small which they were not my last visit. Course was in ok shape fairways are fast as are the greens. I didn’t pay close attention to all bunkers but the one I found myself in had been raked and had enough sand in it to be played from. Some greens had dead spots around the edges and some show signs of replacement areas. Great temperature, great day to play a round of golf.
COULD YOU USE AN ACTIVE RANGER. PEOPLE JUMPING OUT IN FRONT OF YOU SLOWING DOWN PACE OF PLAY. HAD A COUPLE COME OUT OF NO WHERE ON THE 11TH HOLE AND STAYED INFRONT OF ME REALLY SLOWING IT DOWN
we showed up for our tee time and was told the course was closed due to heavy rain the night before and would not be opening up up that day. we had to find another course to play so i am trying to get a refund for that reservation due to the course being closed due to weather
Horrible experience
First off this place should be charged with stealing for charging $55 to play at this hay field. Greens might be worst I’ve ever seen. The staff is very unfriendly and have horrible customer service. Would not recommend playing here for free.
The course layout is OK
The course is nice, but the greens are bad. The greens are punched and sanded with no aeration alert given at the time of booking. In it's current condition, the course is not worth the greens fee charged. The opinion held by our entire foursome. Restructure your fee charged based on course condition.
Timberlake
Played this course 6 months ago with my wife. Putting green was closed at that time as was driving range. Since the club we usually play at was closed for maintence this week my group took a chance on playing Timberlake. We were sorely disappointed. This time putting green was also closed and was heavily sanded with maintenance crew working on it but driving range was open. This time all of the greens were heavily sanded and tee boxes were in poor condition. Things have to improve significantly before we will return.
Golf now should have made us aware of the condition of the course. Very disappointed in Golfnow.
No
So after booking and arriving the clubhouse attendant asked if golfnow explained that we would have to play the front nine twice . At first I thought he was joking, but alas he was not. The greens were being punched on the back nine. The front was punched earlier the in the week. They had so much sand on the greens that it was playing in the traps. No break, no speed, just horrible conditions. I understand the need for maintenance but inform before people pay the asking rate.
