Timberlake Country Club
About
Timberlake Country Club in Chapin sits on the shores of Lake Murray, just outside of Columbia in the Midlands of South Carolina. The classic design is reminiscent of traditional Scottish links courses, featuring a combination of water and pot bunkers as well as large grassy swales. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills, which provide plenty of contours and elevation changes. From the elevated tees, golfers will have a dramatic view of the rugged landscape. The golf course is mostly open though there are a few stands of mature trees that can be troublesome if you're not careful. The cavernous bunkers and carefully molded mounding present formidable challenges that will test even the best golfers. In addition to the golf course, Timberlake also offers a full driving range and practice green as well as tennis courts and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

4th hole par three. Pond in front and lake to right and back Photo submitted by u631580812 on 07/01/2019
Horrible!
I’ve played this course quite a few times over the years. Used to have out of town friends and business colleagues experience the beauty and fun of this course. It seems to be getting worse every year from how nice it once was. The greens (dirt beds) are horrible! What was once a nice beautiful course with some fun challenges has now lost its beauty from so many trees being cleared out. It has and is continuing to become a cow pasture type course the way it’s being cleared. Sad. I will never play it again nor will I ever recommend it.
Horrible- should be shut down for rebuilding.
Don’t waste your hard earned money!
Every green is bad, no grass on greens, tees are not even groomed..
It is really sad how bad it really has gotten.
Needs help
Greens were probably some of the worst I have ever seen. This place needs a lot of work.
Show me the Greens!
The greens were really bad as well as tee boxes. It is a good track, hoping the course comes around in a couple of months before I return. They smdid not have my Golf Now reservation on the books.
Needs some improvement
Greens need a ton of help. For price and location this course should be in better shape. You can see some improvements being made on ponds but the tees, fairways and greens are very bare.
Golf now tee time
Booked a tee time on golf now drove 45 minutes to find out they closed course early. Some rain earlier in day but absolutely gorgeous for the second half of day. If you book I'd recommend calling in advance.
Greens are BAD right now.
Greens are half sand/half just dormant or dead grass. You get to watch your putted ball hop, skip, knock and then die on sand. Not sure why because no other course around is like this. They were heading this direction before winter 2021 and have just gotten worse.
Lost greens
Not sure if this is intentional or not but the majority of greens are badly damaged or lost. Maybe they are planning to replace them. There is a lot of work going on out there. Lots of pines being removed, the par 3s with pond are drained and work is being done on retaining walls. 17 was closed. Fairway are filling in, the few greens that were in slightly better condition were hard and died out. Personally I will give the course some time before returning, I like course just not in this bad of condition.
Greens
The greens are in transition burned out everywhere
Ok for Winter
Doing a lot of work on the course. Cutting a lot of trees. And the back 9 greens need some work around the edges.
