The Preserve at Verdae

First time playing the course, had the yardage card, course GPS on phone, but still hard to know the course. After 2 holes I was minus 4 and finished even. That's in lost balls, not score! Played alone a spotter would've helped greatly.

From tee to green 5/5 stars. Enjoyed it. Tight course, put the driver away if you are the least bit wayward with it. Played the blues using my 5 wood on the second 9. That's a 225 club for me. So not a long course, but the undulations of the course can wreak havoc on shots just a few feet off target.

Super intendent talked to me between 9's and was very nice. Asking what I thought, how I liked things, what I didn't like. Cart lady was kind, young lady in dining area was nice, check in lady was kind as well. Starter was nice as well. Super staff.

Almost no one was on the course the day I played. Course was in descent shape for the summer. They had aerated the greens not too long ago, so they were very slow. It was acceptable since I got the hot deal on Golfnow. I like the layout of the course and would play again for sure.

I've played the preserve 4-5 times so far this year. The course is excellent. The greens are faster than average (which I love). They just punched the greens this week, but they still roll and play better than average.

Solid course which was in great condition and a great value when you use the the hot deal

Played it on Friday afternoon and the course was in fantastic condition. Kudos to the grounds crew. Greens were in excellent condition.

This is the most overpriced course in the upstate. There are literally a dozen other courses in the area that are just as good if not better for much less money. The course wants to act like it's a high end course yet they let fivesomes play and slow everyone else down. They have Rangers that don't enforce pace of play and the driving range is so short there is a net at the end of it. They say they have a bunch of "natural areas" which looks like an excuse to not maintain parts of the course. The staff was not friendly at all.. They need to understand they need the golfers much more than the golfers need them. There are too many places to play around here that is a much better experience. Try playing willow creek, legacy Pines, pebble creek, Greer country club, or links of Tryon before heading here.

Played yesterday and it was a treat to play it after the BMW Charity Pro-Am. The greens were much quicker than they typically are and it challenged me to something that I'm not used to. The course is a fun course to play. You have to be strategic with your tee shots to ensure that you have a look at the green on your approach. I highly recommend this course as it's easily accessible from anywhere in Greenville, has a great layout, and has great nature views. An added plus is that range balls are included in the price, so make sure to get there early to warm up!

nice course some greens need work

So it's been awhile since I've golfed and I was wanting to play before moving back overseas again for a period of time. Had a great time. Worked there while in high school so it was good to get back on the course. It's really pretty and in great condition. I like all the natural areas. One downside though, it's easy to lose a ball if you're just a bit off trajectory. Definitely worth going and enjoying.

I've been a member for a number of years, and each year the number of outings seems to increase. The last 5 times out of seven that I have tried to get a tee-time, I have not been able, due to outings. Verdae used to have reciprocal agreements for members to play other courses....they don't now (word is that they did not want to reciprocate). Currently if you rent a golf cart in any weather, it is "cart path only". Cart rates should decrease for this, but they haven't.

Starter was rude because we were 3 minutes late to #1 tee. He said "we are on a tight schedule" caught up to the group ahead on #2. 5- 12 minute wait on every hole...so much for the tight schedule! 5+ hours, never again. No ranger in Sunday with players running back and forth to the cart on cart path only holes to get another club...frustrating to say the least. 5 groups on #10! Enough said.

Was disappointed in the condition of the course. Specifically went to SC from NC figuring the grass in fairways would be further along than home area, but was no better. Maybe just too early -- may try again later but before it gets too hot to play in SC. Personell at check in a starter were great - friendly and welcoming.

Have visited Greenville 2-3 times a year over the past 6 years and always try to get a round in at The Preserve at Verdae have golfed it all different times of the year and always found it to be in nice shape

Good course great location best price

Always a great round of golf out here @ The Preserve @Verdae. Greens are in great shape this early in the year. Definitely will play Verdae 10 more times this year. JW

This a nice course but not as impressive as I was led to believe. The fairways were very short and very rough. (It is winter still, so I really didn't expect them to be perfect, but they were not very well kept). The greens had just been sanded, so it is hard to make an evaluation of them. They were in pretty good shape and had some interesting hole placements. The tee boxes were in good shape for the most part. The pace of play was really bad on this day. As uses there was a foursome of "members" who wouldn't let anyone play through. They had three open holes ahead of them and would not let the other 5 groups behind them play. This is always kind of frustrating and really should have been taken care of by the ranger. The ranger btw, did stop and talk with them, but it was just to visit, not to tell them to pick up the pace or let someone play through. 6.5 hours after tee off we were done. It is hard to get any kind of rhythm going when it is this slow. As far as price, I have played many many courses that were much better for the money.

Several of the greens had large patches that had been re-sodded. They were sunk down below the rest of the green which made putting over them challenging. Overall the greens were in good shape for winter.

I think this course is great although overpriced so when I saw a great pre-pay deal we jumped on it. Greens fees now include the range.....unless you get a good deal like we did, then they want to charge an extra $5 per person. Didn't see that nickel grabbing in the fine print.
Most disappointing is that not only did we get stuck behind a 6-some, which I've never witnessed on a course above a dog track, we never once saw a ranger to address it for more than half the course.

First time playing The Preserve at Verdae and I'll definitely be back. Forced carries, blind shots and slick greens make this course quite demanding. I'll have a better idea of how to attack it my next time out. It's also very close to where I'm staying in Greenville so that's another plus. Only negative I can think of is the price. It's too steep for me without a GolfNow Hot Deal.
