The Preserve at Verdae

Was disappointed in the condition of the course. Specifically went to SC from NC figuring the grass in fairways would be further along than home area, but was no better. Maybe just too early -- may try again later but before it gets too hot to play in SC. Personell at check in a starter were great - friendly and welcoming.

Have visited Greenville 2-3 times a year over the past 6 years and always try to get a round in at The Preserve at Verdae have golfed it all different times of the year and always found it to be in nice shape

Always a great round of golf out here @ The Preserve @Verdae. Greens are in great shape this early in the year. Definitely will play Verdae 10 more times this year. JW

This a nice course but not as impressive as I was led to believe. The fairways were very short and very rough. (It is winter still, so I really didn't expect them to be perfect, but they were not very well kept). The greens had just been sanded, so it is hard to make an evaluation of them. They were in pretty good shape and had some interesting hole placements. The tee boxes were in good shape for the most part. The pace of play was really bad on this day. As uses there was a foursome of "members" who wouldn't let anyone play through. They had three open holes ahead of them and would not let the other 5 groups behind them play. This is always kind of frustrating and really should have been taken care of by the ranger. The ranger btw, did stop and talk with them, but it was just to visit, not to tell them to pick up the pace or let someone play through. 6.5 hours after tee off we were done. It is hard to get any kind of rhythm going when it is this slow. As far as price, I have played many many courses that were much better for the money.

Several of the greens had large patches that had been re-sodded. They were sunk down below the rest of the green which made putting over them challenging. Overall the greens were in good shape for winter.

I think this course is great although overpriced so when I saw a great pre-pay deal we jumped on it. Greens fees now include the range.....unless you get a good deal like we did, then they want to charge an extra $5 per person. Didn't see that nickel grabbing in the fine print.
Most disappointing is that not only did we get stuck behind a 6-some, which I've never witnessed on a course above a dog track, we never once saw a ranger to address it for more than half the course.

First time playing The Preserve at Verdae and I'll definitely be back. Forced carries, blind shots and slick greens make this course quite demanding. I'll have a better idea of how to attack it my next time out. It's also very close to where I'm staying in Greenville so that's another plus. Only negative I can think of is the price. It's too steep for me without a GolfNow Hot Deal.

The biggest drawback was the way they have made this course into some kind of an award winning ecological, environmental showplace. What has happened is that the areas around the fairways and any waterways are now wild and overgrown. It makes for a very difficult playing area and takes away from the first purpose of this place and that is as a golf course. It almost looks like a way to not have to mow grass and cut back weeds and brush all over the course.
I played here a number of times 10 years ago or so and it was a first rate golf course then but has fallen down several notches as it is now.

Nice course but no real memorable holes. Best feature was the greens. They weren't particularly fast but very smooth.

The day I played it was after several days of rain and was cart path only which was fine. Although when I set up my tee time, I was informed that I would probably be paired up with other players, I was not paired up to play with anyone. I certainly played very quickly but I KNOW I would have enjoyed my round of golf so much more had I had another person joining me, no matter what level of skill that person might have.

I played on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The course seemed to drain pretty well. There were some soft spots, but with the amount of rain that day and the previous day it was in good shape. I would love to play this course again when it is not wet. Cart path only was the only draw back, but that was expected. Fairways were lush and green. Green complexes were in very good shape and rolled pretty true. I was very happy with the course, it was a fun, but not overly challenging track. There are a few holes that are really pretty. There are some holes where shot placement is a must and some where you can let it rip. I was very happy with the course and recommend it if you have the chance.

Beautiful course, great price as a hot deal. The staff was great. Wished I lived closer to play it more often

I reserved tee times a couple of months in advance for a small group and all staff in pro shop very helpful.Course is in excellent condition didn't see anything of the bad greens mentioned in an earlier survey.I saw one green that looked like it had been repaired but was done well and nowhere near pin of the day.This is a challenging course with difficult rough.I would say it is quite long for average golfers of both sexes.This is a good layout maybe a little overpriced but worth a visit.

Really nice course, excellent condition. Couple holes I could hear noise from the road, only small drawback. Plenty of golf babes was a plus. Would definitely play there again soon

The course has at least 4 greens that have some pretty large bad spots that have been filled in with green sand. There are a few holes, namely number 5 that has a bridge to get to the other side where the green is, that has briars overgrowing the course. When you can't navigate the course because the briars and brush are growing into the path, it's time to trim. Cart paths are pretty rough on the course. I thought I'd need. Kidney transplant by the end. May need a few weeks for the greens and someone to cut back the brush.

Super variety of fairway doglegs, straight, and interesting par 3's. Loved the 8th hole, par 4, that finished totally downhill. Can't wait to play again and want to walk the course even though there is a lot of up and down hill for walking. The starter and course workers were super friendly! :-)

Enjoyed staying and playing this course. The staff was friendly and helpful and the course is in great shape. The practice area is fantastic.
I would definitely recommend this course to any level of player.

Great course in excllent condition. Somewhat pricey for the local area, but there are some deals available.
