The Preserve at Verdae sprawls across a lush landscape of rolling hills and meadows covered with beautiful Carolina forests. Formerly known as Verdae Greens, the golf course was completely revamped but one of the primary goals of the renovation was to find harmony between golf and nature. The carefully reworked course does just that, blending seamlessly into its scenic surroundings. Rambling brooks wander across the layout and provide water hazards on a few holes. The wind is also a major factor on this golf course. The breezes can be either light and refreshing or strong and blustery, making proper club selection even more important. The most photographed hole on the golf course is the par-3 second. If you're lucky enough to come when the azaleas are blooming, this hole offers a breathtaking setting.

Great course

My favorite course in the upstate including the private ones. Greens are great to putt and relatively fast. Lots of different shots. Shooting your handicap is quite an accomplishment

Best Public Course In Greenville

Verdae is one of my favorite courses in the area and without a doubt the best public course in Greenville. It is also one of the toughest and from the tips is a very challenging course.

Conditions are usually very good. The one thing I do not "like" is the local pine needle rule. You get a free drop off pine needles or wildlife feeding areas if your ball ends up in these areas. This to me is not golf and I appreciate what they are trying to do but this is not what golf is about.....

Again, this is a very difficult course so hackers please go somewhere else. Lots of interesting holes, a lot going on here, definitely a must play for serious golfers.

The one thing I would recommend to the course and something I think would be a fantastic idea - switch the 9s!!!! I think 18 is not a good finishing hole, 9 is better. Plus there are soooo many reasons. Switching the 9s would be brilliant!!!

Heck switch the 9s on the weekend and say its for the wildlife feeding areas.....

Really good test of golf. Hope corporate throws money at it and has a mini tour event or something at the course.....

Enjoyed the Course

We booked the tee times in advance and were worried about the weather. Luckily it rained earlier in the morning and scared away most of the crowds. We were able to tee off earlier than our scheduled times and thoroughly enjoyed our day out there. The course was in great shape given all of the rain we have had. Greens were fast and soft. Will play there again in the future. They have wild turkeys that wander the course which was a pleasant surprise.

A disappointment

I paid to play 18 hole with a group. When I arrived to the starter I was sent out a by myself. There was a group of three in front just teeing off & one that started just behind me. I had to wait on almost every shot. When I finished nine there was no starter to be found and neither of the threesomes offered to let me join them.
This is a semi-private club and the members seem to not want guest to play or share the course. I left the course after nine holes and went to another local course and enjoyed a fun round with a group of respectful golfers.

Decent Experience

Overall, I had a good experience at The Preserve. The course was in good shape, and it wasn't too crowded. I'm not that great of a player, so the narrow fairways (predominately) and sometimes tricky hole layout certainly made the course challenging.

The staff was helpful and friendly, especially the starter. My only complaint/problem were the greens keepers. They were all over holes 5 & 6, and I had to adjust quite a bit to avoid hitting them. There was 3 on the 5th green repairing a section, and they never moved during my approach or putting. Just fixing and talking. Not even an acknowledgement or apology for being there. I understand that they have work to do and need to do it while the course is being used, but they could be a little more aware of and attentive to the guests.

Still a good experience, and I'll likely be playing again.

This course is in super shape!

Had not played this course in about 10 years. Fairways and greens were outstanding. Would hope the daily fee would come down some.

Verdae

The staff is friendly, the course is in good to great shape. The greens are soft but roll true and fast. This is a challenging course but a fair challenge to your golf game with multiple tee options for length total of 7100 yards for the long hitters. Lots of placement shots but also some grip and rip options. My only complaint is the pace of play 20 min a hole = to a 6 hour round. Golf this slow is not fun nor enjoyable and this was during the week. Will not go back until pace of play picks up.

nice layout

Layout of course was good. Tee boxes had just been aerated and greens had long and ragged grasses - probably due to heat and thus not able to cut. Fairways and roughs were in good shape. Overall my wife and I enjoyed the round. Several tee boxes to select from for your length game. Several people were walking at prime morning times (it was hot and humid the day we played) and this tended to slow pace of play on this course, but not as bad as I have seen on other courses.

Great track

Had a 7:40 tee time on a Monday morning for a twosome. We were paired with another twosome. Starter let us split so we could each play by ourself. Pace of play was great. A lot of people walking the course. Course was in great shape. Greens were very fast but rolled true.

Enjoyable course

Very impressed with the course. Greens were smooth and fast. Course was challenging but enjoyable. There are tee shots and approach shots that require a fair amount of carry over waste areas and hazards. Very beautiful holes that use the natural landscape well. Staff was very concerned with maintaining the environmentally sensitive areas and natural waste areas. I was a single that was paired up with other singles. I will play this course again and recommend it for someone in the Greenville area looking to play a nice course.

Great greens and fairways.

Tough hole locations and green speed made pace of play slow for novice players.First cut of rough fair and easy to go for green. Overall great condition.

the preserve

This is a great course. Fairways and greens were in fantastic shape. Only problem i noticed were the old flag holes on the greens were not repaired correctly leaving dips in the greens. I had to put through a few of them and it greatly altered the ball path.

Great Deal for a Great Course

We got a great deal for 18 holes on Golf Now for the Preserve at Verdae. I paid how much it would normally cost for 1 person for both myself and my wife for 18 holes. The greens had just been aerated recently but were still in good shape. Besides that, the course was in fantastic condition.

Challenging Course

This course is challenging and fun to play. The start was friendly with the exception to the people who collect your money. Gruff would describe them pretty well. No personality and just give me your money. Everyone else was great. We Got the twilight rate at 1:30 Which was $20 off. At that rate it was a Real value. I wouldnt pay the $59 normal fees, it seems a bit high for this course.
