The Preserve at Verdae
About
The Preserve at Verdae sprawls across a lush landscape of rolling hills and meadows covered with beautiful Carolina forests. Formerly known as Verdae Greens, the golf course was completely revamped but one of the primary goals of the renovation was to find harmony between golf and nature. The carefully reworked course does just that, blending seamlessly into its scenic surroundings. Rambling brooks wander across the layout and provide water hazards on a few holes. The wind is also a major factor on this golf course. The breezes can be either light and refreshing or strong and blustery, making proper club selection even more important. The most photographed hole on the golf course is the par-3 second. If you're lucky enough to come when the azaleas are blooming, this hole offers a breathtaking setting.

Beautiful but tough finishing hope. Photo submitted by u000001682547 on 10/03/2013
Pleasant suprise
I had played this course many years ago, but recent renovations made it like a brand new course. Great conditioning..
Challenging Course
This course is challenging and fun to play. The start was friendly with the exception to the people who collect your money. Gruff would describe them pretty well. No personality and just give me your money. Everyone else was great. We Got the twilight rate at 1:30 Which was $20 off. At that rate it was a Real value. I wouldnt pay the $59 normal fees, it seems a bit high for this course.
pretty sences
Could not ride on fairways just some too hilly to walk back and fourth thats all I have to say
Nice Day of Golf
Paired up with a guy and his son. Really nice day of golf. Grass was still dormant but that's because of this hard winter. Greens were in good shape.
Nice shape, but keep the ball near the path
We got a great $22 Hot Deal and found the course to be in very good condition. Greens putted very true and were in excellent shape. The only real downside to the day was that most holes were "carts on path". Being that it's a rather hilly terrain, you'll find yourself climbing up and down inclines throughout the round. Our round could have been played faster had we been able to take our cart on the fairway more often.
Great course but slow play!
Course was in good condition for being early Spring. Would love to play it when in full season. If you are not an experienced golfer, please find another course. The pace of play was slow due to the difficulty of the course and the inexperience of the golfers ahead of us.
Used to be great
This course was one of the best in Greenville. Course conditions have declined in the last couple years. Course staff are not very friendly. Biggest problem the last two times I played there was pace of play. Almost 5 hours for a round is ridiculous. Also, no marshals making sure play is moving along.
Above Expectations
I played this course about a year ago and was not happy at all with the course conditions or the overall value. I have to say I was very pleased with both this time around. Granted, the regular rates still seem a bit pricey, the Golfnow special was well worth the money. The course was in much better shape than the last time I played, aside from a few spots which seem to not drain very well. The greens rolled well but I found them quite tricky as the grain has a major influence on the path of the ball. The only exception was 11 green, which is still pretty patchy along the front 1/3. The practice facilities were an added bonus and I found them much nicer than other practice ranges in the area. I will be playing this challenging course again.
Fast greens
The greens were very fast but they were all make able putts...course was kept in very nice condition....can't wait to play in the summer time with green fairways and long tough ruffs to keep your ball from going to into the harazads...:-)
Great course
The course is always in great shape year round,. The greens are some of the best, but difficult to read making it a fun challenging course
Challenging, hilly, and a great course to play
Loved the course. Fun and challenging holes. Greens, which were fairly fast and challenging, we're in great shape. Especially for the time of year.
Great Track
Played this October 4, 2013. Course was in great shape with only a few spots that were less than pristine. Looked like they had water standing for a while in a few areas.
Played from the Blue Tees at 6630 or so and a slope of 133. I'm a 0 hcp and this was a challenging course that had me use every club in my bag. Great forced carries with some blind shots. Had to throttle back a few times off the tee but other times you needed to hit all you had to set up for an approach. Overall I had a ball on this course and hope to play it again in March 14.
If you have a chance to play this like I did for $23 it is a steal!! Some great vistas as you go around the course but for the most part you feel as if you are the only ones on the course. A true gem.
One of the top courses in the Upstate!
Greens are superb currently and in the spring they'll be even better.
Unfriendly staff
A frost delay caused us to lose a couple of hours and when I asked about just playing 9 holes and seeing if there was any discount available, Karen, the lady in the golf shop, told me that she would not discount the rate and that I should not have been given the rate that I had already received. She said we are "basically playing for the 9 hole rate anyway and that we could not play 18 holes for the rate and she would not discount the round." If the golf shop is complaining about the rates, they should not be doing it to the customers that are trying to play the course but rather to the sites giving those rates.
Other than the rudeness of the staff, the course was in decent shape for late November. It was tough to play without knowing the course ahead of time due to the doglegs and hills. There were some really fun elevation shots that challenge your shot selection.
Very nice. Worth playing.
Nice course in vey good condition. Fast, smooth greens, thick rough, and excellent fairways. Very good price through golfnow but rather expensive otherwise.
What a course! Tough, but fair.
The greens were quick but rolled true. The fairways (when I hit them) were lush....but don't miss them or you will be in deep trouble.
Fantastic course with great features.
We planned on Friday evening to go for 18 holes on Sunday afternoon with two friends and found a tee time at Preserve at Verdae. We played that course the first time and it was amazing. The course is challenging for beginner to intermediate level players, in a fantastic condition and in a very nice environment close to Greenville downtown.
Course needs attention to low areas and rough.
I have played this course over the last ten years and must say that I was disappointed in its maintenance this time around. I understand their concept of minimal environmental impact and preserving the natural flow of the course, but having 3 ft. tall weeds growing just off the fairway with low wet areas rutted by maintenance vehicles and errant golf carts does not make for a pleasant golf experience. Many creeks had way too tall weeds growing at their edges and poorly maintained sprinkler head areas too wet to play from. This course was once a beauty, it is now just average and needs attention.
Play was also very slow, and on a weekday.
the course was great some challenging holes good course for the money
enjoyed it very much we had a 12 20 Tee time the starter was very helpful and the people at the clubhouse very helpful as well enjoy the course first time playing it and I will play it again can't wait had a great time.
The course was fun and challenging.
The course was great, but the staff was awful. Very pushy and seemed like they did not want to be there.
