needs some work
Beautiful setting and that's about where it ended. tee boxes not level, fairways need a lot of help, greens were just aerated and had a lot of sand still on them. Should play once great views....
Enjoyable course / staff
Played two rounds on vacation. Very nice links layout with varying opportunities to challenge prevailing winds. Very well maintained course with true rolling greens. I'd return whenever in the Charleston area.
Great day at Patriots
Great time and very nice staff. The pace of play was a little slow as some groups were 6 in a group and some poor players payed from the Blues which slowed play down.
Great course well worth the trip.
Arrived a little early pro shop staff very friendly. Got us all set and sent us right out. Clubhouse staff was great also. Started on back nine was able to get right off. Course was in great condition for time of year. that back nine along the water is fantastic, number 17 with fort Sumter in the background was something else. Wind coming off the ocean can make some shots tricky but fun to play.
Diff entry on my list to play whenever I'm down.
Great views
The course has a picturesque view of the charleston harbor from pretty much every hole. It's a simple layout with some tricky features that add a little challenge for the better golfer especially if the wind is blowing (which it usually does). We've had a lot of rain recently which didn't help the dormant conditions coming out of winter but I'm sure the course will dry out and play fine as soon as it starts to get warmer. I would say this course is definitely a step up from a municipal course and it has the best views available to the public in the area. The driving range and practice facilities leave something to be desired for someone wanting to actually practice but they function well for warming up. Having all that said whenever friends or family come to town to visit us they always like playing Patriots Point because of how close it is to town and how beautiful it is to look over the Charleston Harbor.
good value
Fair course with room to recover throughout the layout. Water in play on several holes but careful placement can avoid trouble. Signature 17th hole requires excellent tee shot to this firm surface, no room for error on this par 3 that has a great water view.
Great Views
Great scenic views accompanied by a coastal breeze make this golf outing a vacation within itself.
Beautiful View
Needs work to warrant the price. Could only use cart path due to weather. However, putting greens were very good.
best of class in Charleston area
Very player friendly staff. For winter type conditions, the course was in surprisingly great form.
Exceptional greens.
Definitely should be on your "to play" list, when in Charleston.
This course was fun and scenic
It was cool to tee off w Fort Sumter in view. Course was fair and fun. Saw a gator. Good time.
Round ruined by Marshall
I played this course several years ago, and was excited to play it agin. We booked a tee off for 8:00AM for 2 players. We arrived slightly early. Check in was pleasant and we were ready to go at 7:50. There was no one in front of us. The starter although pleasant, held us back from teeing off, while we waited for another twosome. We sat there for 15 min waiting. Finally we teed off. There was pools of water all over the fairways, the bunkers were full of water and it was cart path only. On the 4th hole we teed off and the Marshall approached us and told us to speed up our pace. It was cart path only which slowed us down, as well only 40 minutes has passed since we teed off. He was not pleasant about it. There was a fast group behind us of 3 players, which may have been the problem. It left a bad taste and spoiled the enjoyment of the round. In the end we were done our round in 3 hours and 45 minutes. That is not slow play. I will play my rounds at other course from now on. Given the price, condition and service, I would recommend golfing elsewhere.
Excellent Course
Wonderful course, excellent views, great price. Thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Go play this course if you go to charleston
Great track the back 9 holes 12 thru 14 have spectacular water views and awesome to play well maintained throughout
Charleston
Beautiful harbor views - course a bit long -from Whites - a bit short from senior tees
Gorgeous views
Beautiful views of the harbor and the bridge. "Island" green was not really an island, but view from the green was amazing. There were turtles in every pond, we were hoping for gators but no luck.
Convenient and good value
Patriot's point is very scenic and conveniently located minutes from Charleston. Course conditions were generally good for late October. Greens had been over seeded but rolled fairly well. Unfortunately the approaches to the greens and fringe and collars were saturated throughout 18 holes. Although greens were firm the 5 to 10 feet surrounding were basically mud. Pace of play was excellent 3 3/4 hr for our threesome.Staff were pleasant and helpful. Rental clubs were new Nike Coverts, very nice.
way overpriced !!!
Definitely Not what I expected !!!
This course has an interesting layout and love the scenery in the back nine but don't try to charge for the panorama, the tee boxes conditions are definitely unacceptable, the greens are OK funky looking but OK, the sand in the bunkers is hard, some Have gravel Others different sand,no consistency with the tee markers, no pin location implemented and every flag had the same color and they try to charge 50 to 70 dls, I'm glad I booked thru golf now otherwise I would've been very upset, that's just my 2 cents.
fast play
excellant value for the price. will play again . will tel friends
Dissapointing - But I'll give it another try
Great locations with marvelous views, and a pretty challenging course, but that is all the good I have to say. This was the first time I played here and I was disappointed, but I will give it another chance. Other comments:
1) Place of play was horrible. 2:30 to play the front and 2:10 for the back. Way, way too slow.
2) The tee box makers made no sense. We played the white tees and many of them were back with the blue tees and the ones that weren't were up with the senior tees. I don't think any of the markers were within 30 yards or the correct spot.
3) They have a pin placement system but it was not implemented. So we had no idea where the pins were on the green and all the flags were the same color. The starters suggestion was to aim for the middle.
4) We teed off at 2:20 and saw the cart person at 2:30, for the last time, even though she said she would be out all afternoon. I called the starter at 4:45 and was told they go in at 4:00. Then at the next water stop the container was already taken in. So it was 85 degrees, humid, and limited water and no cart person.
The course was in pretty good shape, the fairways are narrow and the rough was long. Its a good test, but the above make me question if it is worth the money. As I said I will try it again, but if I have the same issues it will be my last time.
I have played a number of other courses in the area and this one may not be worth the $$.
