About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

This course needs a lot of conditioning
Don’t get me wrong, $40 is a good price for the layout but the whole course was grass patches. The greens literally were like shag carpet. I was sent off at 845am as a single with about 8 groups ahead of me. Solo round took 4.5 hours. I ended up hitting three balls on each hole. The front nine was packed with golfers and they were still mowing the fairways, so I hit in to a few mowers.
Course lacked quality warning of hazards but actually the course was challenging. Sadly, you couldn’t get any action with the ball on any greens.
If I was a member, I would be terribly disappointed with course conditions.
Pace of play
Worst experience I’ve ever had at a golf course. The pace of play is terrible. It took an hour and a half to play 4 holes. After calling the pro shop to make them aware of the problem they didn’t do anything. Don’t waste your time or money.
Cool Layout rough greens
I really enjoyed the layout and design but the greens need some attention. Grass looks dead and the roll really bumpy. If the greens rolled average this course would be great.
Best kept secret!
I love this course. Challenging but playable. This course is about 35 minutes outside of downtown Charleston. Make the drive, you will not regret it.
Challenging but fair
This course is a good value. It would be much better if the greens were in better shape.
Needs More Effort on Making It Golfer Friendly!
No indication of flag position on greens. Too many mounds and water incursions into the fairway. Grass not really growing yet in fairways. Grass on greens is very blotchy and bumpy with different varieties of grass starting to grow. Tee positions not very friendly for seniors or women.
This course has the worst greens on the planet
The greens are terrible. Do not pay money to play this. You will be mad and never want to play golf again
Great layout and staff, greens need work
Played the course three times while on vacation. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very good layout with trees, water and mounding. Greens are average at best, but still a good value
