The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Challenging Course
The course is challenging. It was the driest I have ever seen it. Greens were inconsistent for speed. We have played a number of times and enjoy playing there.
Fun Course - Good Value
The course was in pretty good shape considering the time of the year. The tee time went off without a hitch. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Rain Checks Needed
The course greens were starting to show signs of disease, but the rest of the course was in great shape. My major problem for this round was the weather as the thunderstorms rolled in during the 9th hole. We were told that a rain check for the last nine holes could not be issued by the course since our round was a "Hot Deal" booked through Golf Now and we should contact Golf Now for a refund on the remaining 9 holes. This is the third time this has happened. There is no phone number listed on the web site to contact golf now by phone that I'm aware of during or after a round is cancelled due to inclement weather.
Pine
Course is under some construction but does not enter fear with your round of golf. Very challenging course. One of my favorite courses.
Challenging course but fair
The course condition was not great but it’s winter. It is a bit of a links course and the greens are challenging. The ground is hard but I’m used to Florida’s sandy soil.
Overall a good experience. 4.5 hours to play Saturday morning in a public course is not bad at all.
Nice layout
Really enjoyed playing this challenging course, the moguls, mounds and grass bunkers made it feel a bit like a links course. The fairways were in great conditions and several multi teired greens made them a real challenge to read. Water comes into play on many holes so bring extra balls!
The course winds thru some beautiful wooded areas with a creek that winds throughout making for a nice setting, I would play this course again
Keeps getting better!!!
I have written a few reviews this year and I honestly am so impressed with Joey, Steve and the entire staff for making this a special year at Pine Forest! The winter grass has been excellent and if it is a sliver of the course to come when the summer grass fully emerges, look out.
Joey is not only a professional golfer but he has the best customer service I have ever experienced.
Thanks for always making my rounds at Pine Forest so enjoyable.
Greatly improved course!
5th time playing here and I must say the owners ha e fo alot put the money in the right spots. Greens are virtually flawless, not spotty and hard like they used to be. Rough around the hills has been cut down and pine needles raked away. This is a very challenging course, and with it being cleaned up like it is now, there is no better value in Charleston! Playing here weekly now!
Great Lay out --bring your A game
Greens are the best I have seen them in a really long time. Fairways have grass, no excuse not to get a good lie. Green side fringe 1st cut is really good.
Best option in Charleston area
Great course and exceptional staff!!!
I have also met some amazing members who have all been very welcoming.
Good time
In town for a visit. Decided to play anfter a big shower of rain. Course was in good shape and for the winter the greens were not bad. Busy afternoon so pace was kinda slow but it was enjoyable with the 3 guys I was asked to play with.
Great course, great value!!!
Fun course, wish they would have actual holes cut out on the practice greens though.
Members
Have played this course in the past and until yesterday our past experience has been good. When we arrived yesterday the staff said it was very busy, the starter said the pace of play was slow, which was true, we were behind a group of walkers and another two some. Pace of play was very slow and we waited on every tee box for the group in front of us to tee off. By the time we got to 16 the two Members behind us, had had enough to drink and were flat out obnoxious and got into a verbal altrication with us, because we did not tee off quick enough for their liking! BE FORWARNED! the members spend all day there, in clubhouse and think they own the place...and some of them can be pretty rude and obnoxious!!
Tough but fair
Pine forest is a tough layout but fair. Very challenging start with first 4 holes some of the toughest. Greens were in excellent shape. Great course for price.
Challenging layout!
Challenging layout (lots of lateral water) condition in Feb was 6 of 10 (thin grass in fairways) greens 7 of 10 a lot of movement on burmuda grass. I would play it again!! Pretty easy walk for those that do it.
