The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Excellent course
Challenging course - greens were perfect but fairways a bit wet. Not unique to this course - seems like th whole area has been wet. Tee boxes a bit long but may have been too wet to cut. Be careful on cart paths - some very large roots to contend with. Very picturesque setting nestled in a quiet neighborhood. If not for the wet conditions would rate it 5/5.
Great track for the price
Greens rolled true, not the fastest but very true. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape as well. Best course for the price in the Charleston area. $20, can’t beat it.
Nice Course
The layout of this course is quite nice. There are rolling hills and beautiful homes along the sidelines
Interesting Course
Not a boring golf course. There are continuously varying circumstances that add interest to the game. There is some whining that the course is too hard, that Bob Spence hates golf, etc.. But that is from people who over pay for their balls and get peeved after they lose a dozen - on the front 9. A few of the greens are occasionally in bad shape, but they get repaired over time.
Tough, challenging course
Keep it in fairways, hit greens, and you will be okay. Undulating greens... a bit slow, but ball rolls good.
Pine Forest
course conditions not perfect, but pretty solid. Front nine is challenging and back nine is slightly easier. Greens have a lot of elevation and a lot of tiers with false fronts....
I love this gem
Pine Forest has been a great and constant in my golf career.
Challenging Course
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good challenge. The narrow fairways and ponds make for the usual challenges, but having basically no sand traps with sand in them and the greens being burnt out on most greens, it made for an unusually tough experience.
Save the greens!!!
I’ve played this course multiple times. The course layout and design are good. Some holes can be very challenging and it could be a fun place to place if...... the greens weren’t so bad!!!! All of the greens have some sort of fungus or lack there of grass! None of them roll smoothly at all! It’s all about getting it close on the approach bc if your anywhere more than 4-6ft out it’s a complete guess on where the ball might go!! Not really worth the money solely bc of the greens, it makes the round that much more not enjoyable!
First timer
I came from San Diego so I try not to be biased. The fairways were great, the course layout was challenging and the hills made some interesting lies, but the greens were awful. I could see that they are doing their best to get them back but the winter storm definitely took its toll. Without a good layer of grass on the green I got zero backspin, and had decent roll. Had a blast overall though!
