About

Holes 18
Type Semi-Private
Par 72
Length 6905 yards
Slope 138
Rating 73.9

The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.

At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Nice, good shape

The course is in better than average condition. The course is playable for all by the tee box set ups and layout. I find the course challenging. The only downfall is the greens are a bit too slow. They are in good shape but a hair furry ad slow.

target type course - good for accuracy

worth the money to play this course - we were able to play 36 holes the one day as the pace was good - next day pace was too slow and only got 27 holes in. All in all good experience

Nice layout

Challenging, but fun golf course. Lots of water and the greens have a lot of slope to them. A nice change from most of the normal flat courses around the area.

Great course for the money!

The course was in good shape and well maintained. I have played this course several times and have always enjoyed the challenge. The course is fairly long versus other courses in the area.

northerner review

fairways and greens were in very good condition. most mens tee boxes were in good condition. the women's tees were a bit on the rough side, not a lot of flat lie tee shots. the rough i guess was traditional southern rough(?) we lost 5 balls that should have been in play, but the balls sunk down into the rough we couldnt find them. (i know, i know...why did we hit our balls into the rough)
staff was super courteous. we did not take advantage of the club house after our 18, but it did look better than nice. the golf carts were basic, no gps. there were no course booklets available for purchase. that would be nice for first timers. overall, the golf was very nice. we would play there again.

Thinking Mans course

It's not an overly challenging course, but you have to think your way thru the course. It's a course that you have to miss in the right area around the green. Miss wrong and your ball could end up rolling down the hill in to the drink. Miss right and you have a shot at a good score.

Great course for the price on Golf Now

Challenging but fun course which played with some hidden hazards to a newcomer. Course and greens were in good shape and the course played for every club in the bag.

Call ahead

The course fairways ,rough, and greens were not cut. Hard to find ball in the rough. I've played there before and it was in wonderful shape. If everything is cut, its well worth the money. If not, there a better courses to play in Summerville for the same price.

The course was in need of attention. The fairways were in bad shape and the greens were so-so. The view was beautiful.

The course was a great challenge, just the condition was not what I was expecting. Especially since I played three others that weekend.

Pine Forest - Value, Busy

Course was in nice condition and is demanding for players of all skill levels. I might suggest to those who fade/slice consistently: play the right side of the tee and aim as far left as possible as there is water on the right on the vast majority of the holes. Water near the green on many holes requires good iron play as well. #10 is especially "interesting" with water crossing the fairway twice, the first being a 190 yard carry and the second (from the tee) about 280 yards out. There isn't nearly as many trees as I would have thought and a more suitable name for the course would be "Pine Creek." If you have a hard time keeping the ball in play, this course will quickly turn into a nightmare, so bring plenty of balls.
My only real complaint was that I was scheduled to start at 09:24, was there on time and got asked to start on #10. When standing on the tee and about to pull the trigger, the starter comes up and asks the two gentlemen I was paired up with and I to move past the ladies in front of us and start on #12 instead. Apparently, there was some scheduling issues of with some sort of ladies function.
Overall, it was a fun time and by getting a tee time online the day before, I was able to minimize the cost @ $18.00 which is a good deal.

Try it!!

Beautiful course. Very challenging, so if you're not hitting it straight you probably won't enjoy yourself. Plays longer than it reads, and the greens are all elevated and diabolical. Kicked my butt, but it's a great round of golf for the money.
