The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Great Course
This course is very well kept. It challenges every aspect of your game on every hole. Staff were very friendly.
Tough but fair course
Nice golf course layout with undulating greens make for a challenging round of golf. Good value and well worth the trip to Summerville.
Good Value for the Summerville Area
I've played this course several times and for all the rain lately, the fairways were bone dry and the greens were a little slow. Overall, I like the course and will be back.
tough course
greens in good shape. challenging layout. maybe greens a little too undulating( if greens were more than average speed many pin placements would not work). will play again
South Carolina at it's best
I live in Jacksonville Florida and I came up here to visit some friends. I wanted to play some golf and this course was nearby. Very challenging and awesome for being my first time playing golf in South Carolina
This cousre was great
This course was in excellent condition with graet features.
Quegolfer
As mentioned in previous reviews you needed to bring your A game to play here. There is water on every hole and if you don't have a gps or course knowledge bring a dozen balls because you will need them.
We were paired up with two gentlemen from Canada and none of us had any course knowledge. The green speed was kind of uneven but in good shape.
Poor management of a tough course
Well showed up 45 mins prior to tee time to hit some balls and grab a bite. Upon arrival we were told that there was some delays getting to the course and that people were arriving late and we would have to be pushed back. No carts were available for at least 30 after our scheduled tee time, only to find out the cart staff, starter and club house were not speaking the same theme(all 30 yards apart). Carts were being given to anyone that waited at the cart barn entrance, no matter the tee time. The starter was letting anyone go no matter tee time and pro shop was delaying people leaving the shop. Unfortunately this will be my last trip to this tough little course, hope they get it turned around soon. Has been and still could be a steal of a round for those people of the low country.
smart golf
You better leave the B-game at the house and Bring the A-game. Better be smart to look at the tee maker layout. the game not suppose to be easy.
Good but tough course for avg player
The course is nice and in good shape, average golfers beware, it is tough and will humble your game if your used to the municipal or easy layouts, lots of water, tough tiered greens and roughly tight windows to land drives to stay out of hazards or give yourself a shot to green. Everything played a club longer due to wind always somehow being in your face. All in all a good challenge, def worth the discounted tee time i got!
Course difficulty too great for those playing this day
Course was in great shape including greens - seemed to be overbooked with a large number of inexperienced players that could not maintain their pace of play - after 3 hours on front nine and 20 minutes waiting to tee off at 10th tee box decided to call it a day - if your part of a foursome of buddies and don't mind killing 5-6 hours on a Friday afternoon then your ok here - otherwise pick a non -peak time to play
cart path adventure
Love the course! Green seem to be improving every day. The cart parts are in bad need of repair. Lots of roots coming up from the adundance of pines. Need to repave!
A real test!
I played in late winter, so fairways were still mostly dormant which left quite tight lies; that being said, having not played in months ( thank you to the N.E. ) this course has length and hidden hazards. Greens are elevated, so any shot not on but near green will be a blind chip to many multiple level greens, challenging for sure. Would like another opportunity when course is in full bloom, with growing grass in the fairways. A true test of accuracy and distance.
overall great experience
We have golfed the course numerous times and it's always enjoyable. It was pretty wet in a few areas but understandable with the recent weather. The tee boxes were great, the greens were in good shape. We enjoyed the sunshine and another wonderful day at Pine Forest.
fair course
nice for the price. challaging with elevated greens.
Worth the drive.
Great staff, and course. Great place to play, and a great value.
Challenging but fun.
I have played this course several times while visiting the Charleston area. With it's raised, contoured greens, humps , hollows and water on most holes, the course presents all the challenge you could ask for while still being fun to play. It took me four rounds to finally break 80 from the blues.
Because of the recent ice storm, many pine limbs and branches are still piled at the edges of fairways, somewhat complicating matters if you stray from the fairway into the pines that give the course it's name. The greens are also a bit bumpy at the present. Nevertheless it is a great track that will be terrific when it greens up and the greens improve with the weather.
I would highly recommend this course as a must play for visitors to the area who are reasonably seasoned players who enjoy a challenge.
Good course-long wait
Took my 7 year old to play. Staff was extremely friendly and engaging with my son who is new to the game. Course was extremely crowded but it was the first really nice weekend of the year. Had to wait over 25 minutes just to get a cart and the back up on the tee boxes was pretty bad. Course was in great shape considering the ice storm the previous week.
Great value
We played in feb so conditions were not what I would expect in season. Nice layout. Very tough for me from white tees. I am a 16 handicap and struggled. I would play again and recommend. Next time I'll try gold tees.
GREAT COURSE
CAN'T WAIT FOR FAIRWAYS TO GREEN UP.GREENS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION.
