About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Golfer Reviews
Good hilly greens
First time playing there (1/1/2013). Carts were clean, new, and fast. Course was in pretty good shape for the time of year, but there seems to be some drainage issues around some of the greens. The greens are designed very well with lots of elevation (they're inclined from the fairway and there's quite a good slope on each green also). The course really penalizes you if you miss the greens and there's water on just about every hole. Definitely a fun, change of pace for Charleston.
This review system isn't very compatible with a smartphone, so I had to either choose Excellent or Horrible for Staff Friendliness, Course Conditions, etc. The staff friendliness was 6 of 10, not necessarily "dismissive". Some were very nice, others very dry.
Straight is key
Pine forest is a great local course if you do not spray the ball all over the course. It can be challenging if you are not as consistent as possible. Great winter course and maintianed pretty well for the time of year.
Staff unfriendly
Greens in poor condition; bumpy, many spots on grens with no grass
