Not Winter friendly
Nice layout,
Fairways more dirt than grass,
Greens unputtable due to dead gy?
should definitely consider closeing course for winter months if not willing to oversees fairways
& care for greens
Review of Round 12/29/21
We like to play IR Golf course for several reasons: 1. It is relatively close to our house (45 minutes), so we don’t have a great distance to drive getting there. The fee is reasonable for the condition of the course & the staff is courteous & helpful.
The downside is that many holes are long for my age 83). Some courses that we play have a “super senior” tee box which makes it more enjoyable getting to the green in regulation.
Very Sad
Played this course probably 30 times or more and I’ve never seen it in this bad of shape.
Both of my daughters played this course in high school for Brooklyn Cayce High and it was never close to being this bad.
I hope someone’s able to purchase it and bring it back to what it once was or the homes that they build around it can pay into the course to get it back to where it once was because it has a great layout.
Go to another course
I am a low single handicap and Indian River has officially taken over as the worst course i have ever played. Every green had areas where I think the grounds crew just removed sod and left a giant hole? Putting on these greens are similar to putting on your driveway, fast, bumpy, and no chance of your ball staying online. The tee boxes (yellow) were terrible, but i no longer want to go into detail because this review, like my round was a complete waste of time. Just go somewhere else.
It’s been in better shape
Greens very hard and a lot of bad spots on greens. Fairways marginal. Layout is good , but just not in very good shape
Course Coming Along
I always enjoy playing Indian River. Conditions are fair. Friendly staff. Well worth the money spent.
Coarse in bad condition
Not sure if COVID and lack of personnel and attention had something to do with the condition of this course but a lot of holes are unplayable
Crazy layout
This course is laid out over a huge tract of land. You drive your cart through what seems like miles of undergrowth and stunted trees between each hole. Lots of water and few flat lies. There is construction going on next to some of the holes. A couple of fairways and a few greens are in bad shape. Definitely bring the bug spray. Can't expect much more for 37 bucks these days.
Some holes unplayable
This course has potential but there are numerous holes with no grass in fairways that are completely sad. Every green has missing grass that you cannot putt on. I would not recommend playing this course if you are an avid golfer. The round was not enjoyable whatsoever.
Indian River
Portions of the fairways and greens need work. Otherwise very challenging and fun.
Course is in Bad Shape
I have played this many times, and the course is in terrible shape. I like the layout but it’s a shame that the bunkers are unplayable, greens have dead grass and sand almost on every hole. I won’t return until I hear it’s in better shape.
Great course
On vacation in SC. Indian river is a great way to golf and relax on a nice course
