Camarillo Springs Golf Course

I’ve only been playing for about a year and a half but I’ve played this course about six times from when I started to now the course has deteriorated. It’s a pretty course. The setting is beautiful. The holes have potential but it seems like the staff is letting everything fall apart. Maybe they’re motivated to sell the property to turn it into homes like I’ve heard. It does have potential and if you can get a hot deal price it’s worth it.

I’m going to give this course a couple of years to get up to par. Unfortunately the developer who had the course before the current owners just let it go. The new owners are working hard but really have a long way to go.

This is a good course that has challenging holes. Great value for the money. They just need an update to their facilities and from what I understand, that is in the works. Do plan on going back.

I been golfing for 30 years now and I could join a country club but who wants to play at the same course all the time. Camarillo Springs was my go to course back in the day but as most local golfers know, it had gone down hill alot. I hadn't played at CSGC for quite some time. Well I was pleasantly surprised that it is under new ownership and management and improvements have already begun. I know it will take time to get the course back to it's old self and probably better. I gave it a five star because I'm so glad that it will become a popular golf course again and I know the owners are committed to achieving that.

Where to begin...

Parking lot is a cramped mess, the pro shop was out of cart keys so they were literally handing keys out as carts were returned, they had a backup at the first tee, and there is no starter or course marshal to keep groups honest. The group behind us kept hitting into us even though we were not playing slow, and when I called the shop to ask them to send a marshal to tell that group to relax, it was ignored as I never saw a marshal come out. the tee boxes are sloped and rocky, and the "punched" greens looked as if they hadnt been mowed in months, much less punched. this place may have new ownership and a fresh paint job in the pro shop, but its like putting lipstick on a pig.

I end up at this spot once a year or so to check if it’s still as bad and it is. The unfortunate part is the layout is fun, and it could be great, but the lack or organization pretty much guarantees a 5+ hour round. Main issue is they do tee times every 8 minutes to make as much money as possible, and the pace gets slow. Would much rather pay an extra 10$ for 10-12 minute tee time intervals. The staff seems clueless, and Marshall’s are non existent. It really is a rough experience and hopefully the new ownership turns the staff over and tries to make it a real course cause there is a lot of potential, but as of now I would say go ten minutes up the freeway to Sterling Hills or really play anywhere else as this is usually a miserable experience.

Cam Springs is a dinosaur in the municipal golf landscape. It’s relatively inexpensive, unpretentious qualities I find mostly endearing. It’s a place you can take somebody who doesn’t golf and they won’t feel out of place. The food and beverage services are great, call or text your order in and you can get a solid drink of meal in for a decent price. The staff and marshall are friendly.

The course is beat up, the greens a mix of slow and fast, tee boxes uneven, but the bones are solid. Anyone who plays it can envision it becoming something better, and we all hope it does. It’s uniquely challenging- those of us who play muni courses often know the pain - unfair lies, bumpy greens, bottlenecks of groups on par 3s. But for all its flaws I love it, and enjoy it as my local track. Handicap : 3, avg score 73-78

Camarillo Springs is hands down the worst managed/operated course I've ever played. The "marshals" do not enforce any rules, especially pace of play. Which results in your tee time being delayed because they run out of carts for you when it's your tee time. I've had to wait upwards of 10-20 minutes past my tee time for a cart. When you finally get a chance to tee off, I've been stuck behind groups of 5-6 people all hitting two balls each. I have never seen any of the marshals enforce pace of play. A typical round of golf (any day of the week) can go as long as 5-6 hours. There is a reason that this course always has available tee times. The course is visually beautiful. it could use some TLC but it is a decent golf course. Unfortunately, I will never play there again due to the staff being unwilling to enforce basic rules that ultimately benefit everyone on the course. I had to end my round early because it took 2 hours to get to hole 4. luckily, I was able to get half my money back. Unless you enjoy being super frustrated and waiting 25-30 minutes for every shot, stay away from this place.

Went to check in, they told me I have to ride with a stranger. That’s not what I paid for. The “manager” this lady, don’t remember her name was saying it’s in the fine print of their terms. I called her out on that because I never read that before. She went back and checked and came back out and gave me my cart. They need to clean house, especially that lady. Hope this gets to the right person to deal with her

The staff saves this place. There's new owners so alot of overdue improvements happing.
