About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Golfer Reviews
Nice track well cared for
The guys there are very nice and helpful. A small bucket and a sandwich is a nice part of the deal. But you're there to play and this track is worthy for gold tips and white tees and what's in between. Greens were true if not fast and the fairways were grassy if quite wet in the early morning which is not unexpected in Camarillo. Course had no wind to speak of. Bunkers were firm but raked.. rough was fair and you have s lot of room to avoid it. Push carts are welcomed. This is a nice option.
Course was in great condition
Shot 84 with a dam 8 on #18 to spoil a great round.,
38 on the front my best ever there !
Wonderful course
I was so impressed with this course, how well-maintained, challenging and beautiful, that I played it three times this week while vacationing in the area.

Price to play
I like the course and use to play it often. After Covid the cost to play for us veterans and seniors is way to high.
The only way we can play is through Golf Now-Pass but we have very limited tee times.
My thoughts are to make us veterans and Seniors better arrangements!
Don't book thru Golfnow
If you call the course directly you get free range balls and a meal ticket.
Nice course, but…..
It is a nice course though I think for what it is, they’re asking too much money. I played it during a hot deal. Price and I still had to pay another $18 for me to have a cart. Usually when you get a hot deal, the cart is included. If I wouldn’t have booked the hot deal, I would’ve gotten a bucket of balls to hit and a ticket for a meal I guess. For the price of the course which seems would’ve cost around $65-$75 to play if I wouldn’t have had the hot deal I think it’s better to play other courses in the areas. Like Olivas links or los Robles. I can’t say that the staff is the friendliest at the golf shop. The Marshall was friendly but the staff behind the counter didn’t have the best energy.
Great experience
Excellent value for the money since it includes the warm up balls and lunch. The lunch was easy to order and quickly pick up.
We had a good time!
This course is a good bargain with GolfPass membership
I don't think I would pay regular rates to play this course. There are too many courses that are more competitively priced and comparable regarding quality. However, with the GolfPass membership, the price was a bargain. The course is in better condition than it used to be. They no longer appear to have problems with water drainage making fairways inaccessible. The greens are well maintained and the green speed is good. We started our round a tee time behind schedule, and the round was very slow. The starter Raul was very personable (historically this course has not had a reputation for hiring staff with good people skills). Overall this course has made steady improvements in recent years.
Bunkers
The bunkers need attention
Like putting sand in them!
