About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Fun course and great company
I played this course at 4pm and just finished around 8:20 pm . Nice to play here after 4 years and the company was good . Husband and wife .

Course Layout
Layout very nice and quiet like per say … however I’d say for a person like me who’s not a Pro but likes to keep moving along… We caught up to a group of older players and then it dragged on.. Marshall’s need to Tell People Like Them To Keep Up Pace .. (if You Can’t find your Tee Shot..) drop and hit another .. Or on the Green .. just tell your playing partners that’s a Give Me (Ryder Cup Etiquette)

Great course and value
The course is in great shape and I always enjoy playing here. The staff - pro shop, marshalls, and cafe - are all so friendly and welcoming.
Unfortunately a few groups ahead were playing slowly and we got backed up a bit but we were in no rush, and just enjoying the outing.

Great condition just one thing
Staff get watering the fairways? Tee’d off into sprinklers on 1, and had a sprinkler in my face on a tee box on another but overall a great course

Spectator fee
Today we booked a threesome to play, but we had one spectator with us who is sick and cannot play. We were charged $16 for her cart plus $10 for spectator, so $26 for that person. This is absolutely insane. A single rider is usually charged only $5 more, so why do they charge so much more for a single spectator? I even checked the website and there is no mention of a spectator fee of $26. The receipt we were given doesn't mention the spectator fee either.

New carts
So, Sterling is a very good track to play. It appears that they are making an effort improve the bathrooms and they have brand new carts. The price to ride is now $22 with or without sharing? I think it would be more fair to have a shared cart price which is less than a single cart price.
The staff is always going out of there way to help you with any issues. The snack concession was understaffed and cause a back up at the turn. All in all this is a nice place to play for the money!
