About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Golf now issues
So this has happened a few times now where golf now schedules me 18 holes but when I get to the course it is either for a back 9 only or the course doesn't have the time available at all. Golf now is starting to let me down more and more because they aren't in line with the actual tee times that the course has available. I will most likely stop using this application and only book on the course websites from here on out. Getting up at 5am and expecting to play a round of golf only to find out golf now is posting times that aren't actually available is disappointing. As for Sterling hills, the course looked to be in good shape, would have been nice to play it.

Love course, issue with pace
Love the course but I have an issue with the staff not upholding pace of play with rounds taking way longer then they should be with groups having 2 hole gaps in front of them. Not ideal.

They are working to make course nice. Club house staff is kind. Greens are good shape, bunkers need work. Snack shop chow is decent staff could be a little more kind. Need a marshal pace of play is horrible I've nicknamed it Slumber Hills. Would love to see a gate on 10 for walkers. All around a fun coarse.

Fun course, well maintained
We've played here a few times and have enjoyed our experience. Picking up lunch on the turn is a great added value.
I wish the snack bar carried energy drinks. It would also be helpful if the proshop had a beverage refrigerator, so you can grab a beverage after you check in.
Food and beverage staff are very friendly.
The fee listed on the website does not match the fee you pay. Listed as $45 but you pay a premium and the price is actually $50. The starter said you can change the fee while you set up your reservation, this is incorrect.

Price needs to drop
I’m a customer for along time. The staffs are very nice. But I won’t play there for awhile til the price drops. I know it’s comes w/ drink n sometimes w/ a food voucher. There’s courses in the county r in better shape n it’s cost less or the same. The customer service r the best though. Real nice people!!

Keeps getting better
After years in decline this course has really come back nicely. Better course conditions and clever marketing make for a good experience.
The lunch included promo is a real bargain, marred only by the instructions to callin your order for 18 tee which has only one bar cell service. Could deal with that, but not the impatient woman in the grill who copped an attitude and hung up on me. Nice finish to the round

Love the. Course but $16 for a cart is high!
I love playing at this course. I’m trying to get inn on the “hot” times in the mid day. It was very slow today because we had a group of 4 in front of us that used allot of time. Otherwise we had a great time again. It is great prepped and weather was nice! I think the cart price for 2 persons Os high. $16 per player,, so it ads up!
Looking forward to the Next time I take my girlfriend out here to play.

Well kept, intermediate course
Well cut grass, front 9 has generally better grass than back 9. Greens were medium speed and relatively consistent across all holes. 2nd time playing here, first time was a bit daunting, best played with a range finder with miss conceiving distances. A lot of elevation changes and small hills, obstacles and traps worked into the terrain. Fun course, I marked slightly down because of some dead grass, not amazing views, mostly houses and a few of the holes layouts are odd. Overall enjoyable, I’d play again. First time breaking 80 with a 76 (stoked)

A good time
We played a late afternoon round. greens were really good. (It would be nice if more people would fix ball marks) course was in good shape. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Pace of play was great the front 9, really slowed up on the back. We still finished our round in plenty of light. I like the multiple tees to play from. A good time.

Hackers Paradise
Course was in reasonable condition due to water restrictions. Greens were a pleasant surprise rolling nicely!

Course fairways have a lot dry and grass laying spots. Hard to hit ball on concrete like areas.
Grass is patchy with nice grass but then has lots of areas that are dying. Sprinklers are not turned on the same. It looks like some sprinklers are not turned on. It is too bad.
