About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Never abad day for golf.
I hadn’t played for almost 2 years. Enjoyed it as much as I had previously when I was playing more regularly. Staff very friendly in all areas. The small lunch with the price is nice. .

Course conditions do not warrant the price
Let me start by saying that I play this course the first week it opened many years ago. I have seen the scores go downhill gradually under different owners and just recently it was in the war shape ever until a new owner took over and started bringing it back. The efforts are appreciated but aside from the greens, which are excellent, the rest of the course is not in great shape and therefore in my opinion the green fees are way too high for this course and the condition of it.

Course in good shape!
I have played Sterling Hills a number of times and always enjoy this course. Course is in good shape and staff is fantastic. Golf shop staff and cafe staff are great!

Nice course but poor value due to high price!!!
The course is nice but the price is way way higher than other local courses. They have raised their prices significantly since middle of covid and it is now not a course I usually play. Way too expensive for the value!

Value
I think $61 is a but high because average cost for play on other public courses us $40-50 and the lunch is nit worth $20. Charge less and don’t include lunch or make it an option.

Did the round in under 4 hours
Drink cart girl, Gidget, was hilarious and easy on the eyes.

Great Value
Sterling HIlls is hard to beat in Camarillo. Great value, challenging course, and a very friendly staff at the clubhouse. We always have a great experience here.

Golf now issues
So this has happened a few times now where golf now schedules me 18 holes but when I get to the course it is either for a back 9 only or the course doesn't have the time available at all. Golf now is starting to let me down more and more because they aren't in line with the actual tee times that the course has available. I will most likely stop using this application and only book on the course websites from here on out. Getting up at 5am and expecting to play a round of golf only to find out golf now is posting times that aren't actually available is disappointing. As for Sterling hills, the course looked to be in good shape, would have been nice to play it.

Love course, issue with pace
Love the course but I have an issue with the staff not upholding pace of play with rounds taking way longer then they should be with groups having 2 hole gaps in front of them. Not ideal.

They are working to make course nice. Club house staff is kind. Greens are good shape, bunkers need work. Snack shop chow is decent staff could be a little more kind. Need a marshal pace of play is horrible I've nicknamed it Slumber Hills. Would love to see a gate on 10 for walkers. All around a fun coarse.
