About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Upgraded
The upgrade to the clubhouse is a nice feature to the overall course. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pace of play was a little slow but the weather was spectacular and didn’t mind the little waits between holes.
The price is to high and the food is terrible. If we didn't have to pay 58.00 with lunch we might consider playing there more often. Cut out the lunch and charge 10.00 to 12.00 less..
Katy, you should play golf at Cam Springs instead. Seems to be more up your alley.

First time playing with the new tees/rating. The course is in great condition. A very fair test of golf.

Just ok
Course layout is fun but the current conditions are horrible. More weeds than grass, divots all over greens, bunkers hard.

Much Improved
Been coming here on and off since the early 2000s. At one time the course was unplayable - barely any grass along the fairway and completely soggy at certain spots. The new team / ownership has done a terrific job since taking over. The amenities are great. The complimentary range balls and lunch ticket are a great touch. I’ll keep coming back now.

nice deal
Course is un decent early season shape...greens were excellent fast and smooth....nice sand in traps....this place is a gem.....loved everything but the 5 hours it took to play.......below the hole accuracy a plus......back nine was my favorite and the course was quiet...highly recommend

Greens
Greens were challenging first couple holes little faster than I expected different grass that I'm expected than from Arizona then I got the speed down it was excellent I was fortunate that I got to play with an employee of the course that happened to be paired up with me so I got to learn the course from someone that's played it quite a few times so it was quite fun enjoyed it everybody was really nice had a great time

Lost my reservation
They moved my tee time from 7:36 to 7:45 and lost that I had to pay, then play and then get reimbursed. A little bit of a hassle but staff very helpful and everything was corrected (I hope - 2 days for refund).

The course is in great shape!
You can tell that all the course maintenance is paying dividends. The fairways are plush and the greens are smooth and running true. They’re still spreading bark mulch in some areas but that should be finished soon. Overall, I’m very impressed with the course conditions. It is in pristine condition. Keep up the good work. Great job to the maintenance staff.
