About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Very friendly staff
I've always been impressed by how this course is run. The staff is great, course is fun and free range balls and meal ticket are nice added perks
Great course layout!
This course has a great layout from tips to greens. A few blind tee shots and a few holes with narrow greens will keep you challenged throughout your round. Most of the greens run back towards you sloping from back to front so I would suggest keeping your shots short so you have an easy uphill putt. Downhill puts on the greens are a bit diabolical depending on the placement. Really enjoyed this course!
Had some areas where they were doing repairs to .. like The Fact That You Have Some Challenges in lyes on the Greens and in the Fairways

Feels like a private course
Interesting variety of holes, enjoyable open views from mountains to the sea. A good walk!

Great course
Very good challenging course, fairways were a little dry In some areas but overall good course and lunch is included, would definitely play again!
Fairways Bad
My 1st look on the 1st hole and I was not impressed , brown grass all the way from the Tee Box to the Green , The Started advised they had a pump problem and were watering in some places. Basically the Tee boxes and greens . I realize it is summer and the fairways usually get a little brown but nothing like this
If this course is going to be a goat ranch then the green fees should be adjusted to the goat ranch fee not one of the highest cost golf courses in the county

Poor value
I play this course all the time and pay MUCH less. Not to mention, the course is experiencing problems with their watering system and is extremely dry. Shouldn't have had to pay almost double for a week-end, late in the day rate. Not happy. Only reason I played is I had a brother-in-law in town and he wanted to play. I made the mistake of using Golf Now so I couldn't even look for a better rate somewhere else without losing the payment.

Fairways in sad condition
all of the fairways are lacking in water
all brown and hard, not good shape !

Pace of play
Let’s start out that the course was a in pretty good condition. Staff was cool and facilities are clean. On a Wed it took me almost 5 hours to play 18 holes which is insane. Other than that a solid course to play
