About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Great course.
Course is very well maintained. I liked the variety of different kinds of holes from long par 5 to short par 3 holes. Pace of play was great. I was done with the course in less than 4 hours.
Pace of play is becoming a problem
I play here almost every other week. Is a great course and the cooler weather during the summer months makes it quite enjoyable. Unfortunately the pace of play has been deteriorating over the last few months. Not sure why. This last time our it took us 5 hours and 20 minutes. They should have a marshal going around and moving people along.
High marks all around
Truly a real value in every category. Fascilities are top notch. The staff are very professional , knowledgeable and warm. The range was conveniently located across from the pro shop. Course was fair and challenging. A great day !!!
Great for the rec golfer
They even have drink or food tickets for the turn whenever you purchase a full round. Very walkable course. Course will make you work your whole bag.
TJ golfing again
Course was in ok shape. Greens fast. Too many pitch marks left in repaired…….shameful.

Excellent time
My wife and I tend to play on Mondays, flow moves good with no wait time. I have been to most of the course in Ventura Co. and by far this is on my top list. Love playing here.. Was able to hook up with Joey, golf instructor and his wife. besides some amazing tips, just had a great time. Course is definitely flat with undulations and hazards that make u have to be on you game. I'm not great, about a 25 handicap but course is challenging to make u think.

Steal of a deal
I first found this course on golf moose. It was a great deal, I couldn’t pass up. I played it the first time with my friend. It was a great course. Lots of fun, very good condition, never had to wait. After the round,they give you a food coupon, giving you a $15 food credit. You can’t beat that. Free small bucket of range balls and a cart , all for just $89 for 2 players., exceptional deal. I just took my Thursday foursome out there and they all loved the course. We will be back. Sterling Hills Is a Gem
Off the beaten path but easily accessible from the 101 freeway. Entire course is in great shape. Very friendly staff and grounds crew are active keeping it in good shape. Greens roll true and are quick. Sand bunkers look like hard pack when damp but don’t let that fool you. Ample sand depth to take your swing. Highly recommend this course.
