Pleasant Valley Golf Club
        About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Course is in great condition for early golf season. Look forward to playing it again soon.
Coming together
Played 3 weeks ago so I came back to have another go at it. I last gave it 4 stars but this time I'm giving it 5. Pleasant Valley is a fun track, pace of play is perfect, staff members all great. Will definitely be back. If you havent played here you should. Hard course to break 90, requires good course management skills.
Fun challenge
Played last week here for the first time in forever. Got a nice deal and weather was warm for February standards. The staff was welcoming.
Course was cart path only which I like getting steps in so didn't bother me. Grass was a bit discolored and moist in areas, but golf is golf and its still winter. I really like the layout. Each hole has a design and challenges your skills.
Played with another two fellas, we never had to wait for the foursome ahead, and the four walkers behind never waited on us. The pace was perfect.
I'll definitely be back but hopefully they have deals during the season this year, $40-50 is my sweet spot, anything over $60 and I'd rather hit a $20 bucket at the local driving range.
Fast Greens
Greens were incredible. Better than I've ever seen them. Duri in the Pro Shop was friendly and got us going quickly because we drove about an hour and a half to get there. Pace was good, course conditions overall was beautiful.
Great Course - Just not worth the price
Love the course but the fact that it's $120 for a weekday afternoon or $100 to play at 4:00 when the sun goes down at six is absolutely insane. Twin Lakes or Herndon Centennial are much better values and still pretty good golf.
Cart-path + tall rough - very frustrating
I played a round at the golf course last Saturday (10/05/2024), and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. As a golfer who typically scores between 84-88 and prefers to finish rounds within 4:30 hours, my experience was quite frustrating, especially since it took over 5 hours to complete the round.
Course Conditions
The course was wet and had a "cart-path only" policy, which is understandable given the conditions. However, the rough was exceptionally tall, making it extremely difficult to locate balls—even in well-maintained areas near the greens. If your ball lands even a few yards off the fairway, retrieving it can require multiple clubs and several minutes of searching. I lost five ProV1s during my round, while I usually only lose one or two balls per outing. If you happen to find a ProV1 with a blue line, consider yourself lucky!
Enforcement of Rules
Despite the cart-path only rule, I noticed many golfers disregarding it to search for their balls in the rough. This lack of adherence to the rules was frustrating, especially since I saw course marshals multiple times. The muddy areas created by cart wheels will likely remain unplayable for weeks.
Greens Quality
On a positive note, the greens were among the best I've encountered in the region. They rolled true and were quite fast, making them enjoyable to putt on. If you're looking to test your skills on fast greens, this course might be worth considering.
Overall, while the greens were impressive, the challenging rough and the cart-path rules contributed to an experience that was less than enjoyable. Given these conditions and the extended playtime of over 5 hours, I don’t foresee returning to this course anytime soon.
Nice layout.
Course is in very good shape, from tee to green. Numerous sand traps keep it interesting.
Hole in One
#14 is only 110 from white. It is your best chance to score a hole in one.
Good value
The course was in good shape, the Greens were in great shape. Staff friendliness still a challenge. There was so Marshall on the course to enforce the pace of play.
