Victoria Golf Course
About
The Links at Victoria Golf Course has a convenient location in Carson that is easily accessible from the South Bay, downtown Los Angeles, or Orange County. William Bell, the mastermind who crafted the Torrey Pines courses, also designed the Links at Victoria. The course has a traditional design that features wide, gently undulating fairways and large, well manicured greens. It's not an overly challenging course but there are some holes that will make you think and you'll find that accuracy and a good strategy are both generously rewarded. The wide-openness of the front nine provides a gentle start to the golf course while the tighter back mine presents greater challenges. It's a good round for learning beginners and more advanced golfers will find it to be a fun, quick round for an affordable price.

Potential to be good
This was a fun and challenging course. Has lots of potential to be a good course with lots of TLC and maybe some updated golf carts.
Terrible maintenance and ownership decisions
The greenside bunkers were like concrete - greens were uncut and shaggy - fairways and tee boxes were uncut. These are all easily fixable with a greenskeeper that has a brain. Or perhaps its ownership that has cut back on manpower because they have lost so much revenue on having no drivng range for months. To think they are spending a huge amount on a new driving range that was not needed, and not put that money into the awful fairways and basic course maintenance, shows how bad the ownership is. And all that money they spent on a new parking lot. Another waste of money that could have been used to improve the COURSE. With terrible ownership decisions like these, one day this course will close down.
Could be really good
The course has a nice layout; but many fairways are missing grass. If there was grass on every fairway, it could be a really beautiful course. The use of wild flowers (which were in bloom) was really nice; unless you have allergies. All in all, the staff was really friendly and helpful.
Broken lawn mower
Greens here are great but tee boxes and fairways need beyond a lot of help if you need practice hitting from the rough this is the place for you the whole course is pretty much that "rough" I won't play here unless I absolutely cannot find a time elsewhere.
Good view of blimp
Fun no crowd good greens fairways need some work but probably from water shortage
A truly up enjoyable experience
This course was suggested by a friend. I went into the pro shop and the guy there was very nice and helpful. Played all 18 and after 4-5 holes in realized the course is so awful that it was just not an enjoyable experience. This course was built on top of an old landfill and hardly has any grass. Laughable playing conditions. I hate to write negative reviews, but this is truly deserved. Do not waste your time and money. $40/ per person? Very disappointing. this course just looked abandoned. Sad...
This course has so much potential!
Played here last month and the greens were in the best shape I have ever played on . Today they must have punched them last week , much slower ! I hope they can get them back to what they were last month ! Fairways need a lot of help but if they can get those greens back to the best I have ever putted on , this course is a must for any golfer!
Dirt track...
By far in the worst shape of any course I've played in years! Dirt fairways, weeds abound... No driving range, no raked bunkers. A total waste of your money! Should be closed..
This course has great greens
I arrived as a single and was sent out 20 minutes after I checked in.Friendly staff and starter. The driving range is closed supposingly under repair. The fairways are in terrible shape but the area around the greens are in great shape. What makes this course worth its value are the greens. I think there in the top 5 of all the courses I played in the last year.
Good value
Fairways are in very poor condition, tee boxes not better. Greens are excellent. Some good long holes that would
challennge any golfer. All in all, you get what you pay for.
Getting makeover
Fairways have gotten better past few years. Range is currently closed and getting makeover...used to have grass range.
How is this course not condemned?
I have played hundreds of courses all over the world, from the best kept resort courses to the five dollar local 9 holes. The Links at Victoria is by and far the WORST course I have ever seen.
There are virtually no fairways here. I don't mean that they're small or narrow, I mean they don't exist. They are 80% dirt, 15% crab grass, with 5% of mown lawn sprinkled in (see the attached pictures.) Top that off with EXTREMELY dry ground (I don't think they have sprinklers, or a grounds crew,) so most shots feel like hitting off of concrete.
You're better off aiming for the rough, as you might have a chance for a decent lie. I honestly can't believe they get people to come here!
The tee boxes are junk. Mostly overgrown crab grass and weeds. Almost all of them are not level.
The greens are actually pretty decent given the rest of the course conditions.
The pace of play here is horrific. I played with a buddy, and we were paired with a third, who was very pleasant. I wish I could say that about the group behind us, or the group in front of us.... Nearly everyone we encountered was not very nice. Who can blame them here?
Our threesome finished in 5 hours and 20 minutes on a day where the tee sheet was pretty open.
The golf carts are old and rickety. I was pretty sure my clubs were going to be damaged from the rough ride - of course the course itself didn't help that. Luckily no damage, but I would recommend walking (bearing in mind I do not recommend playing here.)
The only good thing to come out of today was the pro shop employee. He was very friendly, and attentive.
In conclusion, run. RUN FAR IN THE OTHER DIRECTION AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!
If you would, please tell me a golf course within15-20 miles that has better greens than The Links at Victoria...and I am a private course member and our greens are no better.
