Victoria Golf Course
About
The Links at Victoria Golf Course has a convenient location in Carson that is easily accessible from the South Bay, downtown Los Angeles, or Orange County. William Bell, the mastermind who crafted the Torrey Pines courses, also designed the Links at Victoria. The course has a traditional design that features wide, gently undulating fairways and large, well manicured greens. It's not an overly challenging course but there are some holes that will make you think and you'll find that accuracy and a good strategy are both generously rewarded. The wide-openness of the front nine provides a gentle start to the golf course while the tighter back mine presents greater challenges. It's a good round for learning beginners and more advanced golfers will find it to be a fun, quick round for an affordable price.

Mostly dirt, nice greens! Photo submitted by LeeDaBord on 08/31/2013
needs a lot of work
Should close for alittle until they fix the fairways.
If they don't close they should let everyone know ahwad of time that most of the fair ways are in really bad shape unplayable
Course needs water
I played this course for the 2nd time in 2 months and it is getting better. But the fairways are still very patchy and dry but the greens are nice. The rough is narly and desert like. Lost balls are very common. They get credit for having their crews out there mowing and trying to shape the course. However, they have a vey long way to go.
Stay away for a couple months
They had no carts available when I prepaid for 1. Tee boxes and greens were decent.trying to fix the fairways but there still not even close. Lake on the 2nd hole fairway
New and improved
I had not played at Links at Victoria for awhile and decided to come back for a hot deal on Golfnow.com
They were putting work into the course to improve the fairways from before where it used to be a lot of dead grass and dirt. Even with the course "under construction" the fairways were playable and much improved. The greens were in very lush condition and the T boxes were pretty decent as well. The course still needs work but overall is much more playable then before.
Mr Rick
Couse is under reconstruction 6 par fours played as par 3. Greens were ok; I look forward to when the course is finished.
nice course
good course with great greens and able to use many clubs
Great greens
The constant here is the condition of the greens, great! The fairways are okay for now, but the value through GN made for a worthwhile day! Always enjoy coming back to the first big course I ever played.
Fairways need help
Fairways have new patches of sod. Should just close the course until truly ready to play.
This course was terrible...
I went to play yesterday, October 24, but the fairway was under construction and the courses were blocked off without notice. 14 holes were par 3... Even golf now did not mention anything about this but they charged full price. I understand the need for renovation/ construction, but it should at least be notified to guests. I am a regular here, but if these inconveniences persist, you will lose your loyal guest.
course is under repair and construction going on
The layout of the course could be appealing and challenging once all developments and improvements are completed
A real waste
Whenever I would drive along the 405 freeway in Carson, CA I would look over and wish I could play here. I know now that only holes, 15 ,16, and 17 are decent. The fairways on every other hole are nothing but dirt with a few patches of non-playable grass, if you can find it. Without my contact lenses, I thought I was seeing fairway bunkers from many tee boxes, but it was really just dirt. I felt I played a pretty good round (low 90's) but everytime I had a good drive down the middle, I found myself with a hard pan, dirt shot to the hole. Afraid to hurt my shoulder on the swing and afraid to ruin my clubs, it was a challenge to stay focused mentally on the shot. I had trouble finding grass even when just 80 yds away from most greens. If I wanted to play a par-3 course, I could have just gone to one.
I will say that the greens were very well-maintained and the bunkers protecting the greens were nice. The rest of the course was a total waste.
Holes 15, 16, 17, 18 seemed nice to me.
My only consolation is that I pitched, chipped and putted really well. I seemed to find every bunker on the course, but that's just my luck - and no complaints about that. I had fun trying to get out of the bunkers.
Every hole was aggravating because there was so little grass on the fairways.
I had read a bad review about the fairways but I had already booked my round and thought that others were just complaining unnecessarily. I went there and proved to myself that I will likely never play here again. I can easily find par-3 courses with really nice greens in the South Bay and Long Beach.
Needs help
I am only recommending this course because it is long and challenging. The tee boxes and greens are excellent. The fairway is NOT playable!! I like the layout and I feel this could be a desired course of choice, but they need to get some grass on those fairways.
Greens in much better condition then the fairways.
This course is worth the $24 HotDeal fee. However it should be reduced from a par 72 to a par 71 because the Forth hole has been shortened so much.
Practice facilities are very good!!!
Not the worlds best hacker, but this course is in need of a exorcism or something like in Pet Cemetery. Was this course built on a landfill? The badlands (fairways) have as many rocks as a highway road crew. For the price they ask and what I saw from the highway I thought this was going to be a nice round... NOT!!! The fact that it is near to where I live and can call at ANYTIME and get a tee-time in the next 10 minutes is not enough to bring me back
Course needs to be maintained.
What can you say about a course like this? The best way to describe..."Its a dirt race track with patches of grass". Needs a lots of work.
Terrible conditions
Grass is either dead or non existent on the fairways. Playing off patches of dirt. Greens were in decent shape.
Horrible fairways
I played one week before the aeriation but before it, the course needs NEW fairways..
There were no grass in most of the fairways..
It was like hitting rocks for each short iron swings.
Poorly maintained course
This was the poorest maintained course that I've ever seen! The fairways were almost non-playable. It was my first time to play the course and I was fortunate enough to play with someone that has played it for the last three years and said that it has been in the same condition the entire time. If you are tempted to play this course because of the price, don't be!
This course is sad.
The layout of the course is decent. Conditions are the worst i have ever seen on any golf course. Will never play here even if it is free.
