About
The 18-hole Dogwood Trace Golf Course (formerly known as Lee Park Golf Course) in Petersburg, VA is a public golf course. Stretching over 6600 yards from the back tees while playing to a par 72 the course features four different sets of tee boxes and can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Players will find extensive bunkering lakes and ponds with bulkheads that come into play on several holes and well-manicured challenging greens.

Just what I expected
I cannot say anything negative about Dogwood Trace including the staff, practice facilities, refreshments and playing condition of the course. It has always been in excellent playing condition and the staff makes you feel welcome and appreciate that you chose Dogwood Trace.

Round After the Rain
Big rain event on Saturday night. We saw tee times available and took a chance. Course drained well and had few bad spots. Everyone a met working for the course were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. We will be back for another round.

Great Course
Well maintained. Fairways rough and greens all well maintained. Nice clubhouse for picking up a bite after opening nine. Enjoy!

Great course, excellent layout
Dogwood Trace continues to be one of the top Muni's inthe state! I think the regular price to play is a bit high for the area; I only book thru GolfNow for ~$30.
The practice facilities are top notch; more targets on the driving range would be nice--there are only 3.

Always has been a good choice
We only got here once a year on our way to Pinehurst and its been a nice course for the last 3 trips - played elsewhere before. Will continue coming bask when in the area.

Rude Shop Attendant
The course is great, and I enjoy playing here. I play here often. Often enough to know some of the shop attendants by name. However yesterday, I arrived to play with a friend. As I was checking in there was a group of older veterans in front of me, the attendant was very nice to them, and showed a certain level of respect and friendliness. Then when it was my turn I approached the counter. I said "How are you today?" and the man just stared at me, with a look of annoyance that I was there at all. I proceeded to explain to him that I also am a veteran and would like a bucket of balls. In the past some of the attendants have given me a bucket without paying (seeing as im there regularly and always pay and am also a veteran) This man proceded to charge me more than the cost of the small bucket. I dont know if this man has something against me, maybe its the age thing, maybe he was having a bad day. But SIR. Just because someone doesnt flaunt their veteran status with patches and hats, doesnt mean they didnt put their life on the line to protect your freedom and rights. All I am asking for is some general respect shown to the PATRONS and VETERANS that enjoy your facility. Its really not hard to put on a smile and be friendly for a few minutes.
I will be back, I just hope that this guy shows a modicum of respect next time I check in. MIke is always super friendly and helpful, we chat for a few minutes before I head to warm up. It goes a long way when you think of the big picture. I think that this older gentleman just doesnt really care if he deters people from coming back, which is a bad way to run a business.

Best Money Can Buy!!!
I haven’t played here in probably 10 years. I just moved back to the area. This was a course I played a few times back when Petersburg had re did it & opened it back up. Staff was professional & nice. Even the maintenance crew, we had an interaction with one lady on hole #3 & she was extremely polite and courteous.
As far as the course is concerned, the greens are beautiful, rolling really nice. For Bermuda greens , they receive shots very nicely & allow you to have some spin on them. Sand traps were in great conditions. I saw a review about the fairways being like “cart paths” and I couldn’t disagree with him more. It’s June 1st & it’s Bermuda! It’s barely been warm enough for them to even grow fully, nevertheless peak. The fairways are mowed closely, but I think with some rain and heat, they will be fine.
We played for $26 on a Tuesday at 11:18am... what else can I even ask for. I would had been fine with paying $50 to play a course in similar conditions. Thank you Dogwood for keeping the price affordable for some of us !

The course was in really good shape. The greens were excellent, but the pace of play on the back nine is always a problem.

fun track
this won't ever be mistaken for a high end course, and that's just fine. it's a fun, fair, moderately challenging and reasonably priced course. very dry and firm from the recent heat, but it's just Virginia, so just wait a few minutes and the weather will change!
