Dogwood Trace Golf Course

Today was excellent. The fairways were plush, the rough not too brutal like in the past. I cannot comment on the bunkers as I escaped falling into them. The greens were the best I have seen them or any course so far to date, they were fully, smooth and somewhat fast but extremely fair. I wish that all public golf courses were kept in this type playing condition.

I love this course. Great value, the holes are challenging and tight. Clubhouse is nice and serves good food. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the volunteers are great. I always have an awesome time playing a round here.

I was asked to say great things about this course. It is a fun playable course that can be enjoyed by all.

I also said I would only do it if they changed two things

These two things are the same problems at most courses.....sorry actually there are three things

1.. to speed up play....put in more yardage markers. I guesstimate most of my yardages but even I like to know if it’s closer to 100 or 120.

2...to speed up play...stop placing the pins in PGA locations. Nobody enjoys trying to chip to a pin that is 2 paces on 4 from the right over sand. Not only am I not in the PGA but your course nor green are PGA Quality

3..yes again to speed up play....if you insist on having sand traps then at least put some sand in them and run a heavy rake through it. I actually can play out of sand but when all the bunkers are like the cart path it is frustrating.

These are not specific to this course just a general thought on most of the courses we play.

Dogwood is a great course. I always use Golfnow when we book the course.

Four of us played and had a great time. The course was in great shape and the layout was challenging enough. Even though a busy Saturday morning, we moved along nicely. Will go back.

Dogwood Trace is always enjoyable to play. There is an excellent practice area and the entire staff are always friendly and polite. The golf course was in excellent playing condition as it seems to always be in excellent all year round. With regards to the pace of play and the lower rating was casued by a twosome infron to our foursome. It seems that a twosome should not hold up a foursome but that was not the case yesterday. The course was not crowded and there was no one infront to hold up the twosome. This however will not prevent me from returning and hopefully soon.

Driving south for a trade show in Richmond. Booked a hot deal. Have myself 2 extra hours to get past dc. They closed a highway and I was stuck. For 2 hours. So late. Called and they were so nice. Pushed the reservation and allowed me no additional expenses.

Course is in best shape I ever played. 3/4 other times here but best. Rain has made fairways perfect and greens true. Fun round and will be back. Always a fun, challenge.

The staff understands Golf, and so they get you checked in and you are on your way. They will match you up if you are you single or twosome. The layout is fine and so are the conditions. The par three‘s are strong, but there are also some par fives that are reachable. No frills in the pro shop or the grill, but you can get A drink and a hotdog, And a hat or a shirt. They do a lot of outings, so just give a call before you get there to make sure that they are open for play. I’ve played this before when in town, and I will play it again when I am in town.

Thought we were going to be rained out. Got to the course, just a little sprinkle. Hit some range balls, range grass was in great shape. Course allowed us on the fairways to use good judgement in wet areas which we did. Course was a bit wet but in great shape considering. We avoided the rain and played fairly quickly. Had a good sandwich at the turn and finished the round with very little issue. Great time. Greens and fairways in great shape. Bunkers were packed due to rain. I am a bit worried about the algae on the greens for the future. Need more beer selection.

Greens were a bit slow, bunkers needed some attention but Dogwood rarely disappoints. Tough par 3s, tough back nine, good rolling greens and some actual roll for the first time anywhere in years it seems. Greens were a bit tough due to a lot of bounce and not taking chip spin but very playable. Wish they had alcohol in the clubhouse but maybe someday. Overall always good

Greens are outstanding considering the high volume. Kudos to Greenskeeper and staff.

Played for first time and probably the last. Course fairways were very muddy and greens were very different for each hole in terms of speed and upkeep. Had a confrontation with another golfer who played in grey basketball shorts who threatened us with a golf club. Golfer should have been thrown out of facility but was not and finished his round. Golf marshall was not helpful in confrontation and I question professionalism of course. For all other future golfers I hope this was just a bad day for the course and not "par"

I have always had a great time playing this Course and will play it again. It was a beautiful day to get out. That being the case, it was kind of slow with all the people who had the same idea to play today. The Course is well conditioned and great practice. I would definitely suggest playing there to anyone who likes to play.

It was about the best you could hope for considering the unstoppable rain that has plagued us for the last 2 years it seems like. Dogwood is a low lying course and it showed. It was hard to find a reasonable area to hit from but the greens were in good shape and rolled well. The driving range was closed, understandable. I've always liked Dogwood Trace and it has been very good. There was no way this or any other course was going to be anything but wet.
