About
The 18-hole Dogwood Trace Golf Course (formerly known as Lee Park Golf Course) in Petersburg, VA is a public golf course. Stretching over 6600 yards from the back tees while playing to a par 72 the course features four different sets of tee boxes and can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Players will find extensive bunkering lakes and ponds with bulkheads that come into play on several holes and well-manicured challenging greens.

5some ahead of us playing back tees and had insufficient skills for that. Had three groups waiting on one tee. Two groups on every tee on back nine.
5-some 1 group ahead of us held up everyone. Probably 20+ handicaps and they HAD to play from the tips.

Worth the drive from Richmond
Overall great track, although a few parallel fairways where you need to keep your head on a swivel.
Challenging greens, and some challenging fairway layouts (bunkers in obvious landing areas)
It was a cold day and the course wasnt crowded, but had some beginners who didnt know etiquette and there was no ranger out to keep folks moving. I skipped around holes to get around them.
Driving range is probably great during the warmer months, but right now you will be hitting off dirt, keep that in mind if you play before spring. Tee areas are rough there (tee boxes on the course were fine though>
I gave 1 star for off course amentities because the grill was closed, but website didnt indicate that - bring your own food for the foreseeable future. I think the grill is closed for renovations.
Pro shop staff was great, super nice and helpful and accommodating.
Some bunkers great, some need work (and it looks like they are doing some course construction and drainage repairs, second fairway had what looked like a pond but turns out it was just poor drainage area and water had pooled to make a small "pond" in the fairway.
Overall I definitely recommend the course.
It’s still winter!
I applaud the staff for getting the course in playing condition. The greens were ruff and wet, but what can you expect after 5/6 inches of ice and snow. Not to mention freezing temperatures every night. It was as great to get out and play after a 29 day forced weather break.

Tee box’s are used up, the greens rolled good 👍.
Always Good
Staff is always friendly. The course was very busy. Staff was out making sure everyone was getting off on time. Course was in great shape for December.
Fun round in December
Few tee boxes are needed repairing, but understanding that winter is what it is. Greens as always are good 👍. Love seeing the improvements. Will be back soon if weather is above 40.

Always a pleasure to play this course. Very nice to have it so close by. The staff is fantastic. Greens as always in good shape.Tee boxes are over played. The ground crew looks to be doing a great job. Improvements are looking great.
