About
The 18-hole Dogwood Trace Golf Course (formerly known as Lee Park Golf Course) in Petersburg, VA is a public golf course. Stretching over 6600 yards from the back tees while playing to a par 72 the course features four different sets of tee boxes and can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Players will find extensive bunkering lakes and ponds with bulkheads that come into play on several holes and well-manicured challenging greens.

Not the best of days
Lots of rain the day before, pretty sloppy fairways. Nothing anyone can do about but play thru it.
Greens were n good shape.
Hatchets everywhere
Multiple five-somes in front of us with non golfers hacking up the place. People - pick up your ball after 7 strokes. Need a starter badly.
A gem
Very wet, it’s been raining every couple of days lately but we had a lot of fun.
Course is dry
For winter the course is in good shape. Walked 18 and didn’t get muddy.
Greens on the back are getting beat up pretty bad. I guess that’s to be expected considering it’s a public course and nobody fixes their pitch marks. I end up fixing 5 or 6 marks on every green.
Hidden Gem Course
Always a fun course to play plenty of opportunities to score or getting the big trouble. Good balance of scoring holes throughout the whole course. Only downside is after heavy rains course slow to drain, but the greens were in great shape after rain.
Great Atmosphere
Layout looks easy, but the course is still challenging; greens were in great shape. Bunkers were nice other than a little stranded water on one of the holes. Everything was great, including the staff.
Always a pleasure to play there
Dogwood has a great staff, good course and great location. Even the clientele is very friendly. I’d recommend this course to anyone.
If you need a lesson, talk to Mike or the staff. Worth the money!

Good shape of greens
Course was in good shape. Greens were good a little slow. Only complaint was a sign was missing for the 14th tee. Missed the tee and played the 18th, then backtracked and found the 14th.

11/4/23 its been in better shape
I've played this course approximately ten times, mostly in 2022. The rough and greens needed to be cut down a bit. Lost many balls just off the fairway because they would just disappear in the high rough. The greens have been so much better in the past. Way too many divot marks and needed to be cut down. Other than that, the course was wide open and the day was beautiful. Overall still a great value and great for beginners and mid-level golfers.

Looooong Day
The course looked great, and the front 9 went pretty well. We stopped and used the restroom at the turn literally less than 5 minutes. When we got to the back 9 I don’t know where all the people came from, but every hole was backed up. We thought maybe it was the foursome in front of us and went on around them to find every tee box backed up with people waiting. We only played 10 holes and called it a day…if we had tried to finish, we would only be on the 15th as we speak.
