Kempsville Greens Golf Course

I offer good ratings but on rare occasion when I find a service or good super sub-standard, I will regrettably offer a bad review. So is the case with KG GC.

I’ve played courses that close a green or 2, but all 18 at the same time? We played KG GC numerous times over the past year and were surprised back in May when we were told of the 18 temporary greens.

Fast forward to last week, we made a tee time on Golf Pass after having been told the week before the greens would be open. Not so. When I said something to the man when checking in he spoke to me as if he was doing me a favor letting us play.

I’ll NEVER go back.

Course was in pretty poor condition, play of pace and staff were great though

Allegedly, Kempsville re-did/replaced all their greens in February. The greens yesterday were horrible with multiple bar spots and growth. I saw no evidence of any effort toward improving the greens.

Greens under repair but the course was very playable

I had no idea all the putting greens on the course were complete under repair! Meaning there were no real putting greens. Total waste of time should have gone to the driving range. I won’t be back and wish I had a refund.

The greens are under construction currently. They do have temporary greens but no yardage to temp greens and hole 17 was not marked for the Tee box. It would be better with temp yards on the hole markers. The staff was great about informing all guest about the greens under construction. I will play again especially for the price and the staff.

All the greens were under renovation, unfortunate cause the temporary greens were terrible and it cut about 15-20 yards off every hole, I guess that was to be expected though. Hole 17 (par 3) wasn't open. Quickest 18 I've ever played. But hey I love playing whenever and wherever I can so if you want a cheap course to play this is right for you.

I am a Newer golfer (4 or 5 times so far) and I brought a friend (first time golfer) to this course because it was cheap and They had temporary greens set up while the real ones are under construction which was listed on the website. So I thought they would be pretty laid back.We booked a teatime on a Wednesday morning thinking it wouldn’t be busy. Even still we had the staff following us to every hole reminding us of time restraints. They have a 4 hour maximum 18 hole round. Meaning neither of us could really get into our shots and practice considering the time it takes for each of us to double bogie most holes. This course takes themselves way to serious for people just picking up the sport. Plus the temporary greens were aweful. So idk why an experienced golfer would want to go either. Writing this review made me change my score from 3 stars to 2 as I remember how bad it was.

It was a great day. Staff is very nice. Greens are under repair but we were told ahead of time.

Great course but they are redoing all their greens. Don't know why during main golf season but other then that it was great to play. Can't wait till they are done.

I booked a tee time online for rather cheap for 18 for 2 people on a Wednesday morning. I was excited and have heard good things about this course. When I check in, they inform us they have temporary greens. Little did I know, this was a fairway green with a flag and a bucket as the hole. Additionally, many of the tee boxes were mats.

I wish this information was available before I paid.

Additionally, when I went up to the first tee, there was a starter on a slow Wednesday morning. He tries to pair us with a random duo even though there was absolutely nobody on the course. The two random guys laughed and just said they’d tee off ahead and we can play seperate. The starter goes after those dudes and makes them wait on the green for us. Screams at all of us and makes us really uncomfortable. He then follows us as we play to the second hole to make sure we play together. In the time it took doing this, they could’ve played ahead and we could’ve played the hole. And guess what?! Nobody was behind us, so it didn’t matter either way.

My buddy and I left after 9 holes and drove over to eagle haven to play another 9. Worst course ever, worse starter ever. I doubt I’ll come back despite my friends claiming they loved this course.

Well the course is being improved it is very playable especially for inexperienced players. We were behind a foursome that was obviously learning the game. We all go through that and we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the course. The staff is exceptionally pleasant.
