Kempsville Greens Golf Course

Course was in pretty good shape, had a great time.

My group was asked to let the foursome behind go ahead of us if they caught up. They actually told us that they were fine. We eventually let them go in front of us at the turn. We were once again asked by staff to speed up. We waited on every back nine hole for way longer than expected according to the course expectations. Also, the group behind us were hitting into us when we were not clear of the fairways or greens. Not once did I see staff observe or correct that ludicrous behavior. I don’t understand the logic of staying on us repeatedly when basically the whole track was slow and other golfers don’t show any etiquette at all!!! Tighten up and keep favoritism out of it and simply do your job. How difficult is that?

Does seem like alot of slowerplayers do not feel they should sometimes pick up and move on. Playing like PGA pros waiting for each other does not help. I would love to see the back 9 open to 9 holes when possible. Could help spread out the demand

Layout was very challenging, they have new Bermuda greens, & course management is a MUST. I’ll be back in tge fall to play it again.

I have been playing this course for 2 decades and consider this my home course. I have not played here in nearly 1 year. As other reviews suggest, the greens were under repair since early Spring and they had 18 temporary greens for many months. They heavily discounted the price of the course during this time. The current condition of the greens are moving to the right direction but are not yet perfect. There are a few greens that have some trouble spots and many have a decent amount of sand on them. With that being said, contrary to many reviews here, these greens are moving in the right direction. I believe in a year from now the greens will be much improved from pre-renovation condition. There are also a few turf mats on tee boxes and one or two fairways that the course has always struggled with. If you are looking for a 5 star condition course you will be disappointed but I found the course far superior to what I was expecting after reading the recent reviews. This course is currently priced at a great value for the condition and I have always loved this courses unique and challenging design. While I know the people responsible for improving this course wish it was moving faster I truly believe they are doing the right things and that a year from now it will have all been worth it.

The course is a great course, however, I feel they rushed reopening the greens. They redid all the greens lots of problems from no grass to bare spots on many if not all greens. I appreciate this course and love to play it, My opinion is they should have taken the whole year to grow the greens in right before opening them back up. I realize it's a business but rushing the process could cause more issues down the road. I wish them luck due to the fact so many rounds are played there annually.

I enjoyed this course. Everything was good except first green. Nothing was excellent but all was good. I played two other course and this one was better than red hill and hells point.

Don’t waste your money. This course has progressively gone down hill in the last 5-6 years. They claimed to do some sod work to repair some areas of the course, but several tee boxes were range mats and 4-5 green border line unplayable. These people should be ashamed of themselves for taking peoples money. I know a lot of the guys that made this place a quality course are rolling over in their graves at what it has become. The only reason I tried this place again was because their social media said their “upgrades” were complete. What can I do to get a refund?
