Stumpy Lake Golf Course

I’m not a pro by any means, and this is my first review. I hate to admit it but I’ve played plenty of other courses that were good and didn’t write reviews.

Anyway, I was really disappointed with this course. Tee times were grouped 3 minutes apart from each other, we got to the first hole 5 minutes early and there was a line of at least 4 groups ahead of us. Pace of play was horrible.. but what can you expect with Tee times stacked on top of each other. We had a three man group and a random that joined us but one of our guys had to leave after 9 so when he paid he grabbed a cart. Well immediately after getting to the first hole the marshal stopped him and literally made him get out and ride with the random that we were paired with, now normally not an issue but like I said our buddy had to leave early. So when he asked the marshal if he would give him a ride back when he had to leave he said “nope”.

While we were waiting to tee off on the third hole another marshal (at least I think it was a different one) came up and told us to not let the group behind us catch us. I could have taken this out of context from already not being happy about the conditions or the amount of time it took us to get through two holes, but regardless this felt out of line. In the same hole he came flying up behind us and told us to not drive the cart in the woods! We were off the cart path maybe 10 feet near the wood line, but nowhere near the woods!

Onto the tee boxes. I will let my pictures speak for themselves. But I didn’t get a picture of the greens. They were awful as well. The only good thing about this place were the ladies working the bar inside. They were great, but this place is not worth the almost $50 we payed to play!

Aerated greens weren’t known through GolfNow and would have likely waited to play the course. Great staff and the course is a nature park which is an awesome setting.

A Lot of dog leg lefts holes. I really enjoyed it. Definitely will play again.

I have a group that comes to Sandbridge 2 or 3 times a year. This was our first time at Stumpy Lake but will not be our last. There were a couple of greens with some bad spots, but in general they were the best greens we played this week. The fairways were generally in good shape. The tee boxes probably could use some attention, but given the weather we have been having in the east we were impressed with this course. We will be back.

Greens were in very poor shape for the cost of a round. Tee times being 7 minutes apart meant there was a 10 minute back up at every hole.

Great facility. Several greens were in bad shape. We also observed numerous divots on the greens (by no fault of the course). Staff is always welcoming and accommodating.

Tee boxes and most greens were in terrible shape. It was a very fun course to play but the price is way too high.

This course would be good at $20. The greens were half dead and just putting on dirt. Tee boxes were all dirt and ground was so hard tee would not go in.

There they charged me extra $5 cause I used the app. Then they over booked tee times, it was 10 people sitting on tee box waiting to tee off. Took us 3.5 hours to play 9 holes.

My friend and I played here on 8/22/24. I traveled 2 hrs to meet an old friend and play 18. I struggled to rate my experience at 3 stars. The greens were in horrible shape as were most of the tee boxes.

Bunkers were rock solid. Surprisingly the fairways were in great shape. But what's with the large tongue depressors for yardage markers? I'd like to give 5 stars for the lady behind the lunch counter. She was working all alone and handled all her orders very well.

Kinda crazy that the lunch counter rated higher than the course.

Stumpy is a great place to play for the price. Well maintained course.
