Whispering Firs Golf Club
About
Whispering Firs Golf Club is one of two courses operated by Joint Base Lewis McChord. The other course, Eagles Pride, is located southwest of Whispering Firs. Designed by Bob Baldock in 1962, Whispering Firs opened on what was then McChord Air Force Base and later became part of Joint Base Lewis McChord. Though it's a military golf course, it's open to the public but don't forget to check in with security at the visitor's center. The layout features well manicured fairways lined with mature trees and challenging rough. The small greens demand accuracy and are made even more difficult with strategically placed bunkers framing the edges. There are some tough doglegs that require conservative play, and water hazards come into play as well. Whispering Firs Golf Club will test a variety of skills but it's not an overly punishing course. Players of all skill levels will be able to enjoy a round here.

Best Golf Value Around
I've never played this course, but I will again. The best golf value in Western Washington. A fun layout in excellent condition. The guy in the pro shop was helpful and friendly. Getting on the base was a a bit of a hassle, but the military guards were pleasant as well.
White tees 6350, lots of security questions, but hidden gem
After barely getting past the extremely unfriendly gate guard, I found myself enjoying s made torder breakfast burrito. Course is tight, white trees are over 6300 yards, fairways are moist even in july. Greens are small, but roll true and just fast enough to keep you honest. Course favors a draw shot off all but 4 or 5 tees. Easy walks great pace of play ws most are regular military guys. Who play fast. Starter had a blue live matters and a Trump 2020, so if they offends you, you are warned. Will. e back but may have to hit the weight room or move up to the gold tees..lol
Great course! Must play!
So when you first drive in the building on the right is the visitor center to get your visitor pass, bring DL license, proof of insurance and registration.
Took about 15 mins to get my pass then it’s about 10 mins drive from the gate to the course.
Course was in great condition and pace of play was spot on.
You won’t find a better course for such an amazing price!
You have to play this course if you live anywhere near by
Great course with lots of character.
Course is in great shape. Pace of play was excellent, 3 1/2 hour round. Course was in great shape. Greens ran true at a good pace.
Independence Day
Outstanding Fairways n Greens , definitely will play course more often
Course on base. Couldn’t play
Went to go play and found out the course is on a military base. So we couldn’t play
Please change your GolfNow picture!!!!
Please reach out to GolfNow and change that picture that accompanies your course reservation.
That is the ugliest #*%ing golf swing I’ve ever seen at that point in the mechanics of the swing. Please change to a picture of the course or something. Just change that picture. It makes me want to go break all my clubs. You have a nice course there. Don’t wreck it by advertising that Dorf like golf swing. I can’t imagine the pro at the course created that swing look in lessons. Just use the PGA Logo or a picture of squirrel digging up acorns.
Good layout
This is a good track once you jump through the hoops of getting on base. I will definitely play it again. Multiple opportunities to work for ball left and right, only thing I found gimmicky was the 11th hole which is a par five, but kind of took driver Out of your hand off the tee.
Drunk idiots
Golfed with my wife. Pro shop was awesome experience. Course was in great shape. Guards at the gate where super cool. The front nine was slow. The group ahead of us a couple dropped off after nine. We immediately caught the next group. I noticed there was no group in front of them. We caught up to them and I asked if we could play through. Then all three of them in there twenty’s and there dump tattoos. Attacked like dogs. Being a 50 year old with multiple sclerosis and with my wife I got scared. All three of the cowards told me they would kick my but. I apologized and literally begged them not to beat me up. We jumped a hole and played fast.
Beautiful and challenging
The course is nestled in the woods and is not only beautiful but challenging. The greens had just been punched and sanded so I didn’t really get to experience them. I will definitely golf here again.
Great course with a few challenging holes
The check-in process at the gate may take some time if first time here. Other than that, great course with less people, i love it.
Winter play
For a lot of Washington rain the course was not bad at all it drained extremely well green was slow due to weather but better then a lot of wet courses I’ve ever played on
I like the challenge of this course
Draw and fade shots are great here if you can hit them. Overall one of my favorite courses in Washington state.
Nothing wrong with your first amendment rights. I didnt have a problem with it, but the group in front was offended, so that's why I said if you are offended, you might want to stay away. We even thanked him for his stance, but I also dont think an employee of a business should be allowed to wear divisive sayings on company time. On their own time, I'm all for it. I'm pretty sure the 1st amendment doesn't give employees carte' blanche freedoms to say anything they want.
What is so wrong w/ a person expressing their First Amendment's rights?
