Beautiful course in magnificent shape!
We played the course twice in one week. It was immaculate, and the elevation changes were a pleasure to flatlanders from Florida. Even the tee boxes were plush like carpets as were the fairways. We loved it!
Sweet
Best course in Wisconsin.
Good day of golf
Course was in great shape with cart pat only on 6,7,8. Greens were good and fast.
Tough greens and 100 yard and in areas
Tough meaning difficult, meaning I 3 putted a lot, meaning I would lay up or punch out to 100 yards and take 3 to 5 more shots and look back after putting out and being like dam, that wasn't easy. Course is awesome, we saw about 20 or so deer so if you are into that you'll be happy. Long drives between holes and course is laid out so you are kind of by yourself out there which has it's pros and cons. Plenty of room to lose a golf ball if you aren't hitting it semi-straight. Conditions were great and it's not like the greens and surround areas weren't bad they just were confusing to a first time player. This is the type of place you need local knowledge on where to leave shots and you'll gain back 5 or so shots the 2nd time you play it. No 9 hole option as 9 finishes away from clubhouse so we played 12 and then drove back in once dusk came so get here earlier in the day or you likely won't find a tee time.
Don't Skip This Gem
It's easy to get caught up in the um, cheesiness, of the Dells, and it would be natural to think that a golf course in the Dells would be, well, cheesy. Think again! Wild Rock is beautiful and can stand alongside some of the bona fide Wisconsin gems, like the Bull, Lawsonia, and it even can give Blackwolf Run a run (get it?) for its money. The course was in pristine condition and almost every hole is visually arresting with a lot of elevation changes. The hole routing and overall "feel" of the course was suburb.
There are five sets of tees so you can easily find a decent challenge for your ability. The course is challenging but fair with only a few holes having what I would call "tricked up" elements. The greens, in general, had quite a bit of undulation, but they ran fast and true, though some of the pin placements were awfully tricky. The only minor negatives were the rather slow pace of play (maybe unavoidable on a busy day) and the lack of beverage cart presence, though there is a strategically placed snack/beverage shack that you pass twice. As a note, the 9th hole does not end near the clubhouse. Watch for specials and do play this gem if you're in the area.
Tough
Difficult pin placements and a long course. Still, a very fine course.
Best course in WI
If you haven't played this course, grab your clubs and go. Best course not talked about.
Pace of play
Overbooked! Rangers and starters admitted! 5:45 for 18 holes, unacceptable! I’ve golfed Torrey pines in under 5 hrs, and that place is like cattle stockyards!!!
Enjoyable Day
This is a very good golf course. Multiple tees give everyone a chance. Great design and fun to play.
Fantastic course.. one minor thing
Overall a phenomenal experience. I had read several reviews and noticed they were on Yelp. I noticed a “1st timer” discount which I tried to use at the golf course and learned I could not. Apparently Yelp puts discounts out there without the business knowledge. It would have been a better experience to have just been educated by the clubhouse and honored a 10% discount on greens fees rather than an outright denial. Please try to sort this out with Yelp as I’m certain that was not the first experience like I had.
Scenic Wisconsin Golf Course
We enjoyed a great day of golf at Wild Rock last year in August, and decided to come back again this year. After early morning rains, we were treated again to sunshine for the entire round. This course is ideal for the better than average golfer, who is looking for a good test of golf, along with a premium on the scenic Wisconsin countryside. Mix in frequent views of our wildlife, the course provides a great getaway experience!
Great condition
Best course in Wis Dells. Great layout and always in good shape. Much better than any course in the Dells.
Amazing course, challenging.
Amazing course! Challenging yet forgiving in the right spots. Staff was very friendly, beer cart was right on time when needed haha. Didn’t get any range time, it was crowded as an outing was teeing off right behind our group. But it looked pristine. Will be visiting this course again!
