Course has always been a favorite play it every week. Staff I are always great to deal with.
FAIR CIURSE
Course is fair when in decent shape. At present the greens are in bad shape thus hampering play.
It’s a Municipal Course
Should have known. People working here that have no idea what they are doing. “Marshall” pulls up to you in the fairway and pulls off right in your backswing. Yeah, gas carts to boot. We started 35 min after our tee time. A single, a threesome, and another single. No attempt to pair them up. Conditions on the greens were not much more than painted sand. All in all, terrible.
Likeable staff
Greens a work in progress and course marshal needs to be more active

Course used to be the best deal in town. The problem is that the greens are terrible now and getting worse. It’s ashamed because it’s a great place to play. But it’s hard to go to a place with such bad greens. I hope they can figure it out but I don’t see it happening yet.
Greens are made for sun tan lotion
These greens are the worse in the State if Louisiana and it's not even close. Don't waste your money here my friends. The greens have large dead spots and piles of sand everywhere. It's terrible!
Joseph M Bartholomew has great potential
Playing at Joseph M. Bartholomew Golf Course was a unique experience given its historical significance. This course, crafted by Bartholomew, a trailblazing African American course designer, carries a rich legacy, even as the man himself was often restricted from playing on courses like this due to racial segregation. It’s a privilege to play on grounds with such historical depth.
The pro shop is well-maintained, and I had a pleasant experience with the staff; the lady at the desk was welcoming and helpful. The golf carts were in good shape, adding a nice touch to the round.
The course layout and overall potential are impressive, and I can see how, with proper maintenance, it could become a top spot in the area. However, conditions on the day I played were disappointing. The greens were in rough shape—some of the worst I’ve seen, though they had promise if given attention. The bunkers weren’t well-kept either, which affected the experience, and unfortunately, bird droppings were widespread, creating distractions on many of the holes.
I only played the front 9, as the back 9 looked backed up and I didn’t want to spend all day waiting. I would love to return, though, once the course sees some improvements. With a bit more care, this could be a truly outstanding course and a better tribute to Bartholomew’s legacy.
Wide open course
Great course to test all of your clubs. Green are a little rough. The goose poo is everywhere so watch where you step.
No greens
The course manager let's groups of 5 and 6 tee off together because they are his boys. Let anyone else try that they immediately make them split up.
The greens are pathetic.
