Cobb's Glen Country Club
About
Cobb's Glen Country Club is named after its designer, George Cobb, a Georgia native who lived in Greenville most of his life. He designed many golf courses in the South, including the par-3 course at Augusta National. The golf course sprawls across rolling terrain blanketed with mature forests. Opened in 1976, the layout may be more traditional than modern golf courses but it still presents one of the area's most formidable challenges. The course has hosted a variety of events over the years including the U.S. Open Qualifier and the South Carolina Amateur Championship. There are 90 bunkers strategically placed throughout, and the greens are lightning fast. The 11th is one of the most memorable holes. This par 3 plays over water to a triple-tiered green that is flanked by three bunkers on the right, one for each tier.

Cobb’s Glenn
This is my usual go to course within a 30 minute drive from the house. I think it’s a strong value for the shape, cost, and layout. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in good shape. I can usually get an early tee time and get a quick round in, playing in 2.5 hours or so. Today was my first bad experience though. I was the second person out on the course as a single. I stopped for 3 minutes at the turn only to discover a single (I assume member) in front of me and 2 people pull up behind me that did not come off of 9th hole. The single went on so no big deal. Then on the very next hole is a two-some who also had to of started on the back. It took 2 holes until they finally let me play through. Then I fought with the guy on the mower for 3 holes (he just kept mowing in front of me and would never let me play through) and finally on the 4th I went around him. It was quite frustrating and put a sour note on my round. Nonetheless, I’ll be back as hopefully this won’t become the norm.
Good day
Excellent greens, nice fairways and tees.... the rest of the other areas needed care... insure a lot of rain prevented mowing.
Perfect day
Course was in good shape, greens were very good. Great value.
Typical subdivision course
Being fairly new to the area (~1 year), and having played most of the courses in my immediate area, I thought I would branch out and try someplace a little farther away. Saw this place on GolfNow for a good price/good time and decided to give it a try.
The course, at least from the appearance of the pro shop, seems dated. The pro shop is bare bones, and the man working the counter barely looked up from whatever he was doing to acknowledge me. Practice facilities are just so-so, and the course itself is fairly typical of the “housing development built around a golf course” genre. The greens are in good shape, fairly fast and multi-level. The best thing about the course is that unlike many of the others in the area that have you either going up or down steep hills in unrealistic scenarios, this course is fairly level with gentle rolling hills. There was a lot of casual water on the course, but we had just had a big storm come through the day before.
Would I play the course again? Definitely, especially if I can get a good price like I did on GolfNow.
NEED A RANGER ON THE WEEKEND!!!!
I was playing very good golf with the wet conditions, but ultimately after 5 holes the day turn sour from excessive waiting. Overall we played in 4 hours but if people would have simply kept pace it could have been a record breaking game, but with no ranger i dont wanna go back anytime soon. The are trying to clean up around the course, but the greens are very slow and im guessing they didnt cover this winter. The cart paths are beginning to get repaved and the snack bar food was very good at a fair price. Honestly this time of year $30 course tops.
Fun times
I loved the course and had a great time! Nice fairways for this time of year. I hope to play here again sometime!
Great course for the money
Decided to try this course out just to play somewhere different. The Greens were in really nice condition for this time of year and even with all of the rain the course was in good condition. Really enjoyed playing here and will definitely be back for another round.
SLOW
Had a starter to make sure you paid/ after that was terrible. Pace of play was pathetic- need a ranger.
Course was technically closed.
When we got to the course to check in, the guy in the pro shop informed us that the course was closed all weekend for some kind of tournament. He said he wasn’t even sure how we got a tee time. He went ahead and let us play since we had already paid. We had to start in the middle of the back 9 to get behind the tournament. I don’t know how GolfNow decides what tee times and courses to put on the app but, it seems like a good idea to make sure that the course is open. Especially before you make it the featured hot deal! I wish there was a star rating on here for GolfNow somewhere, it would definitely be a 1 for this experience.
Cobb glenn
Course in good shape greens was the best feature.
Pro shop and locker rooms could use some updating.
Excellent condition, challenging course
Cobbs is always in great shape. The course is fair but challenging. Let your guard down and it will bite you in a hurry. Lots of fun.
Thank you to the staff!
My son and I had a 12:06 tee time. We were headed home at 3:20. A foursome let us play through and we were able to play at a great pace. When almost home I descovered I had left my pocket knife, that had belonged to my father-in-law, in the cart. I called the pro shop and asked them to look for it. They called me back 10 minutes later when they found it and refused to take a tip for their efforts. A big thanks to the guys at Cobbs Glen!
Beautiful course
Played very early in the morning, Lots of early AM fog.
The layout is challenging but fair.
The greens rolled so true, but were VERY fast, the fastest I've played all year. I was told they would be aerating them beginning 8/13.
Overall very impressed with the course and I'd like to come back again and have another crack at it...
Always a great value
Despite heavy rain the night before the course was pretty dry and playable. Played in less than 4 hours. The pro shop was great flexing my tee time when my friends had an accident on the way to the course. Really nice course and people.
Cobb’s Glenn
Solid course with a fun layout. Course is in good shape and can’t beat the rate for a Sunday morning round. I wish they had yardages on the sprinkler heads and there were a few spots near greens where the rough could be cut a little more but otherwise a great round. I’m looking forward to playing here again
