Cobb's Glen Country Club
About
Cobb's Glen Country Club is named after its designer, George Cobb, a Georgia native who lived in Greenville most of his life. He designed many golf courses in the South, including the par-3 course at Augusta National. The golf course sprawls across rolling terrain blanketed with mature forests. Opened in 1976, the layout may be more traditional than modern golf courses but it still presents one of the area's most formidable challenges. The course has hosted a variety of events over the years including the U.S. Open Qualifier and the South Carolina Amateur Championship. There are 90 bunkers strategically placed throughout, and the greens are lightning fast. The 11th is one of the most memorable holes. This par 3 plays over water to a triple-tiered green that is flanked by three bunkers on the right, one for each tier.

Love this course
We love this course. The staff is very friendly. The course is easy to navigate and the price is right.
Great course, terrible starter
Course was nice, greens were in excellent shape. They are very fast so be careful. I was a single teamed up with a twosome for 9:58. I asked the starter to let the twosome know I was putting and waiting for them. At 9:51 I asked the starter where the pair was and he said he sent them our 20 minutes ago...told me to go to the first tee and start. Got to the tee and there was a four some waiting to tee off and ahead of them was a three some and ahead of them was a group of 5. A few groups let me pass them but all through out it was scattered with groups of 5. This is poor management from the starter.
I've played Cobbs Glen about 8 times since moving to S.C., two years ago. I like the variety of hole layouts and the resulting looks you get. They aren't cookie cutter like some courses. Though the course could use some manicuring, it's a fun track that offers plenty of challenge.
They're close
Not a bad course. Very green, fairways and putting surfaces were in good condition. Why has every golf course I have played in the last two years have very poor cart paths, Including Cobb's Glen?
Good course
This a fun course to play but, don't go the day after a very long hard rain; it can be quite sloppy.
Great value
Greens are fabulous, sometimes too challenging as they have lots of undulations which is a characteristic of a George Cobb design. A downhill putt of 2 feet can easily run by 5-6 feet with just a tap. Tees are a little thin on a couple of hole but as it gets warm that won't be a problem. Highly recommend.
A 10
The course is in great condition. It has a championship layout that challenges every part of a low handicap golfer, but still offers easier playability for the average player. Staff was very friendly! It's a must play!
Large Greens, deceptive slopes!
Nice course layout. The holes do not double back on themselves so it seems you are out there virtually alone. The course is in good shape for the time of year. The greens were in very good shape. and quite large They rolled nicely but had some serious roll out if you wrong sided the putt. The greens do not rely on several tiers or goofy pin placements to protect par. The course seemed deceptively up hill. Many approach shots were short of my intended landing spot but the penalty for such was not severe. Watch out for number 12. It is perhaps the trickiest hole with a landing zone that must be hit to get you an open second shot. Anything over q 180 yd tee shot can put you in the pond. Anything short and you're facing an uphill shot with a significant downhill lie. Fun course. Not treacherous. I normally play Cherokee Valley, Falcon's lair and Links O' Tryon. of the three it compares more closely with The Links.
Happy Return Customer
I have been playing at Cobb’s Glen for about for years now. I play with a group that hits most of the courses with a 40 mile radius of Hartwell, GA. We are always pleased with the track at Cobb’s Glen. The greens are great year round. The fairways are good to great depending on the weather. The carts are always well serviced. The only reason to rate four instead of five stars is that the course is a bit slow to drain after a rain. Everyone should play this course.
Black Friday round of golf
The course was in a surprisingly good condition considering the fall leaves and the lack of rain. There are some really fun holes on this course and the greens are PGA fast. We got paired with a couple of medical guys too who were great fun. We will be back.
Enjoyable
Everyone enjoyed the course. Two of the guys had never played there but they liked the course
Like a Low Rent Public Course
Maybe the expectations were too high from the onset. The person that checked us in wanted to charge us again for the tee time even though we had paid in advance on line. It took another person to get that fixed. The course was nice but the area is lacking in rain fall and the roughs were long and shaggy. Greens were in good shape and pin placement was fair. When we got to the 1st tee there was a 5some on the tee allegedly playing for $5/hole but should have been playing for nickles. Another 5some was behind us. Play was extremely slow! At the turn we dashed into the bar to get a drink. To our surprise the staff ignored us for several minutes. We did not want to end up behind the group behind us so we headed for 10. Then on 10 they put a 2some between us. Oddly they were wearing jeans and tee shirts. This ended up being a 5-1/2 hour round for us. Way too long. There are too many better choices in this area, take one of them.
nice course
if you are in this area it's a nice course to play. it's a fun course to play for the average golfer. one thing I loved about the course was there are some challenging holes but some reachable par 5s also for example. I guess you would say it's a good mix of holes. as far as the conditions the course was in pretty good shape and the greens were excellent. there's not much I could complain about as far as the course conditions. I myself was traveling from a little over two hours away to play and though I really like the course I wouldn't say that it's a course worth traveling that far for but if you're in the area it's definitely worth playing and I would play again if I were there. as far as anything else around the golf course I really had no contact with anyone at the course besides the guy in the pro shop who while he wasn't rude he wasn't the least bit friendly I'm not even sure he spoke to us other than to give us the amount that we owed I don't think there was a how you doing or thanks or anything like that. but again no one there was rude or bothersome I just wouldn't call them overly friendly. but again the course itself was a fun course to play and a fair course in that if you play well and hit good shots you can score well on it but if you don't hit good shots you can pay for it
Great value
You cannot beat the value of this course. Really enjoyed my day.
Very challenging
I played the Green markers on the course and found it quite challenging which is what I enjoy! Very good layout, the greens were firm but receptive and over all a very good course to play.
The hole you are descibing is #14.
