2nd time in 3 years
I loved the course 3 years ago but it was in horrible shape! Tucson was considering closing it. The new management has turned the conditions around.
The greens were in great shape but challenging
because they all have big rollers. There are many blind shots with no layout on the score card although T markers do have maps. All in all a fun day on an old reborn course!
First Impression
Condition of the tee boxes and greens, for the most part, was very good. Fairways are spotty, but acceptable overall. The aprons on the back nine are very good. Bunkers are well below average and should be avoided. Better markers are needed for the transition areas to guide the golfer from the green to the next teeing ground.
Overall, a good value for the money: just don't expect TPC Scottsdale condition or amenities.
Difficult course
One of the city's courses which they choose to neglect. Fairways need more water. Greens are ok but very fast and difficult to putt. Cart path, what there is of them, are dusty. Pluses are it is not crowded and quite affordable.
very challanging for an inexpensive public course
Great value. There are five tee boxes, so you can gear this course to you enjoyment level. There are several blind holes, and the par five have that risk reward factor. The fairways were a little dry, but the greens were in great shape. This is a fun course, but if it is your first time you will loose three or four balls.
great day at Enke
its in great shape and the improvements not just here but all around town are awesome. we will be here again next week before we head somewhere else. we will be back a lot hopefully the summer does not dry the course up.
highs and lows.
Got a great rate on Golfnow, played in less than 4 hrs. More blind tee shots than I'd like, need to play it quite a few times to know aim points. Tee boxes, greens and aprons around greens were good. Fairways were pretty much non existent. Very bare lies in" fairways" . Still shot a good score as greens held my ProV (as they should) . Will come back, this course is a descent city course.
Nice to play golf in March
Even though we were concerned about playing "target golf," it was not a problem. Slow play though was. Possibly because another city course we learned was closed, nevertheless, it should of been faster than it was. Otherwise, I we enjoyed playing on a wonderful, warm, sunny day in Tucson.
Good golf for price
Good challenging course. Tee boxes and greens were in great condition.
Course Management
A great target course. Choose your club with care. Best greens in AZ. Lots of fun.
good day
Great Greens. Pace of play was very slow on Front nine and we had to request a marshall to come out to speed things up.
Suggest that a Marshall be on the course on a regular basis.
Loved Fred Enke
This was our second round at Fred Enke, playing just nine holes two years ago.
What a great course and layout. Easily walkable, no houses crowding the fairways, with some distant traffic noise.
We felt the greens were challenging and in great shape. We loved the desert landscape and the birdlife and wildlife that comes right along with it.
The pro shop staff were top notch as was the starter. Why wouldn't you golf here? We are looking at our schedule to get back.
A desert course.
You do not have to be a long hitter to score well on this course, but you do need to be accurate. There are several holes that you need to tee off with something other than your driver so it really helps to be paired with someone with course knowledge.
The course is in excellent condition and the greens are larger than most of the courses in the area.
Great condition with a challenge
Course conditions are great, fast greens and challenging layout. Year round the conditions are above average.
Great views of the Catalina's
tee's an greens in great shape, fairways are dormant Bermuda when they grow in course will look great
No two holes alike
Really fun layout. Fairways firm and fast. Greens in very good condition also firm. The course and facilities have undergone a wonderful transformation. Fairways are dormant Bermuda and it is difficult to get a bad lie. This is a hidden jewel.
Excellent Greens; glue down your dentures
The greens were very good as well as the tee boxes. However, the cart paths were only suggestions as to where they would put cart paths if they were to have them - very, very rough. The fairways were similar to what we have in Texas in the muni courses. The fairways could be better marked as we had a tough time knowing which direction to hit our balls. The fairways looked like the rough on some holes.
I would like to see the course when the weather had allowed it to flourish.
Get ready for 4 weeling!!!!
They have new golf carts. (Gas, takes a few seconds before the move.) Cart paths (if you can call it a cart path, more like a 4 wheeling path.) fair ways are dead grass. Greens are in good shape. The course is a good challenge for the average golfer. It would be a high level course if they would fix the above.
great fun
wonderful desert course. I would play it again. Great value for the price.
Average Muni Course
In my opinion an average city course with several well designed and challenging holes. Several very narrow fairways to avoid unplayable desert rough. Greens and tees fairly green but fairways not. But it is the middle of winter.
Overbooked
I booked my tee time a day before just to find out at my tee time that i wasnt on the scheduled, the front desk staff started blaming golf now for constantly overbooked and scrwed thing up, they were able to get us in but that was a horrible experience, it took us over 6 hrs to finished the 18 holes..
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!
