Where’s the marshal
Absolutely horrid pace of play! Took 3 hours to play 9 holes. No marshal in sight. Greens were brown and there was mud all around. Fairways were the only thing that saved this course. It was not worth the greens fees. Unable to finish my round after teeing off at 1340 hrs with sunset at 1800 hrs. Unacceptable.
Tucson munies rock!
Another good day at Tucson muni. Silverbell, like Randolph has a great short game practice area.
Frost delay caused some back up and slower play than I expect is standard.
Exceeded expectations
First time around this venerable Tucson track. Layout and course conditions exceeded expectations. Impressive practice/warm-up facilities. Staff could use some coaching on communication skills. We didn't hear about the 90-minute frost delay when we checked in at the pro shop -- the starter shared that news. Fortunately, they were mostly caught up by our original tee time.
Loong and unreadable greens
My score goes up 6-7 strokes from other courses. It's not because it's longer - all of those strokes are from my short game and mostly from misreading the greens. There is more separation from other fairways than any other course (and few trees) so I always enjoy myself no matter how many 3 putts I make because I can never blame the course (really), only me. This course makes golf harder than it needs to be but who wants it easy? It has been in GREAT shape (like all the city courses) since the new management (like when the old mgt was new).
Bad
Bad, Bad. The second group that was ahead of us had 4 women they slowed up all the groups behind them and there were no marshals to speed them up. When I had a chance to watch them play, they were just hacking at the ball and clowning around like it was a circus. When I pay to golf it's to play not to wait. Silverbell doesn't seem to be to concern about their customers. Thats the second time this has happened to me at Silverbell, so I'm done with them I won't be going back. I'll be spending my money at El Rio at least they listen and take care of their customers,
Course has potential!
The tee boxes, fairways and greens are all in good shape. The course amenities however definitely need some attention. The bathrooms both in the clubhouse as well as on the course showed signs of serious neglect. The bathrooms didn’t appear to have been cleaned recently. The mirrors were filthy and the odor of urine from the men’s could be smelt from the hallway with the door closed.
The course is a bit rough in terms of cart paths, and areas where construction overlaps with the layout of some of the holes.
We will likely return to play again and hope that the issues have been resolved by then because it was fun and challenging to play.
City golf
Not to bad the price is a value . staff is helpful . course is well maintained ,greens are fast more pitch marks than I care for . but not the courses fault typical for public course . pace of play was average .
Tucson Golf in January
Course was average. Fairways are in good shape, greens average. Rough was dirt with very little dormant grass to hit off. Looked more like hay but sparse. I realize object of the game is to stay in fairway but let’s be realistic, the average golfer is not always going to be in the fairway. Will not play this course again.
Worst course ever
The conditions on this course were
The worst I’ve ever seen. Outside the fairways, it is complete hardpan with no grass at all. Also, there is a terrible smell in the course from sanitation issues.
Interesting design
Fun course for all levels. Some par 4s long for average golfer.
Price
If you would lower your price you would get a lot more play.
Pro Shop Cashier
My overall experience with Golf Now has always been good, but I experienced a difficult Pro Shop attendant at Silverbell Golf Course in Tucson, AZ on Thursday afternoon, 1/6/22, She said her name was Marie, but my receipt said Natalie.
She disputed my paperwork from Golf Now - which I provided a hard copy. I ended up paying nearly $16 more than the Pay at Course Fee quoted.
She was very disrespectful and argumentative. She even told me and my friend that we needed to "settle down!"
