Rough a little thick and the greens were slow, needs cutting.
The course is nice and the pace was good, but the course needs a little attention. (TLC)
Good value for the $$
Overall, a nice experience. I enjoyed playing on grass! Views of the mountains were beautiful, but some issues with the odor on some of the holes. The greens need some attention, but can't beat the price for 18 holes and a golf cart.
Great weekday getaway
Super price for the experience. Temps were hot, storms were brewing, pace was speedy with very few golfers. Even with light traffic, the beverage cart came around twice. The only thing missing was sand in the divot fillers. Greens were sturdy but regular rains kept them fuzzy. Slow greens were easy to judge because the were in good shape.
Tore up
Course definitely is in need of some attention. Large areas of the fairways are dirt, and the tee boxes as well.
Decent city course.
Super fast today. Played full course in 2.5 hrs! Only 15 people on it the cart girl said. Nice and green never has had the prettiest surroundings or views and nearby freeway construction and the waste treatment next door aren't helping. Course is mostly flat with some good water holes, mild elevation changes and in solid shape. GET SOME DECENT SAND city courses. Fun for the $.
Could use a little manicuring
The first 5 holes had the fairway grass so long I lost 20 yards off my tee ball. After that it was much better, but you still had to closely watch your ball if it got near the rough. You had to actually almost walk over your ball to find it in the rough. Played in less than 3 hours, so I didn't hit too many in the rough. The greens were medium to slow speed and a little bumpy.
Great deal for the money and course was a tad dry.
The overall course was nice. There could be more water and attention to cutting the rough, and the divot-repair-bottles were empty. Also the cart was old and presented difficulties - It was 103 degrees making the heat more of a factor.
had a good round.
good grass on fairways and greens. went out as a single behind 4 foursomes, added three more as the round progressed. enjoyable play and good conditions.
One of Tucson's most challenging courses (from the tips)
in ok shape, sand or dirt traps are bad (as with most golf courses). why cant they throw some sand in those traps? the wash bordering the course to the east provides free sand! traps are mainly dirt with very little sand. from the back tees, silverbell is within the top 3 or 4 most challenging golf courses in the tucson region. try it on a windy day, you'll quit the game. noonan is the pro there! tell him chris sent you!
Needs attenion
The course is in need of a lot of attention. The greens are very dry and cut different for each hole(some slow some fast). The fairways need to be punched as they are very ragged.
I was pleasantly surprised
Fairways were in good condition, greens were a bit slow, but overall, true. don't expect pristine conditions, but for the money, it was a good round of golf.
Needs some attention but decent
Overall the course was pretty good. Bunkers need a lot more sand... or dirt... whatever they were using they need more of it. The pace of play was fairly good except for a drivable par 4 followed by a long par 3 which ended up jamming 3 groups. Silverbell needs some attention but it was still a good time.
Silverbell is mostly good
fairways were a little spotty but overall a good experience for the cheap fee. not many folks playing so finished in just over 3 hours for 18 holes.
Course is in bad shape...
The whole course is in bad, even sad shape from the tee boxes to the greens. The city should take a hard look at the course management. I have played here in the past and in good shape this course is desirable to play. Currently...I would ask you to not waste your money on this poor excuse for a golf course.
The course was forgiving and well maintained, but a little confusing at certain points.
A few of the holes were a little confusing due to flag placement. I found myself aiming for the flag of other greens. It wasn't till I got closer that I realized I was aiming for the wrong hole.
I understand that we live in Tucson and the heat is only getting worse, but the sand traps needed to be better maintained. They were super dry.
Other than those few items, it was a nice course and I will return.
Challenging enough, fair enough
I usually play this course from the whites (rated ~68), but blues are rated ~72 for par 70--clearly challenging enough for a 11 hcp like me. Playing the blues makes this a different course, bringing more trees and bunker into play, and water into play for key holes like 16 (a 235 3-par with water on the left and a bunker greenside right).
One of the best laid out city courses, and fast by any metric, I played my 18 holes in less than 2:15 in the afternoon.
Some greens a little sandy, but it's 105F so you've got to keep them alive this time of year.
Good course
Sand traps could use some sand. Most are just mud. Cut the rough down so at least you can find a golf ball in it
