This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Beverage Cart
Bought a beer from the beverage cart $10.50 seems outrageous to me. That was the only bummer to the day.
5.5 hour round
Course was in good condition. Just pace of play. Got Stu k behind a group that was at least 3 holes behind. Nobody to enforce it. Took 5.5 hours to finish. Usually it’s not so bad.
Oak Valley Great Layout
I’ve played here a number of times and really like the course and layout. However, this time, maybe early in the season, fairways were not in good shape. They also had a problem with burrowing rodents that were causing havoc. Maybe later in the year conditions will improve.
Bare fairways and no walking.
Cool layout, greens were in great shape but the fairways were pretty bare. Frustrating, I was scoffed at when checking in and told the pro shop employee I was walking. I was not really given a real answer to why they don’t allow walkers other than it would be a tough course to walk. It certainly wouldn’t be a stroll in the park but this course would definitely be walkable for most folks. Tough to start the day but that aside, I’m not sure this place was worth the $85 I paid for the weekend rate. Probably going to avoid this place for more walker friendly places.
Very fast greens
Grass on fairways and tee boxes was spotty, greens very fast

One of my favorite desert courses; the course is challenging and the greens are great.
Disappointed with course conditions
Haven't played in a couple of years and after reading reviews decide to play. Most of the tee boxes were in good shape, greens were fast with lots of undulations. The fairways were had little grass with lots of tight lies. Needs some TLC.
Freeze Delay
Course had a 40 minute freeze delay that set the round back. Pace of play was 3 hours for 9 holes. I left after 9. Fairways were worn down.
Great layout
Excellent layout, medium condition.
Whoever went on the big rant about gophers, there are some but it’s all out of play. Huge exaggeration.
Good value, I’ll go back.
