Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

review
excellent condition, would play again, close to my home, easy to find
Oak
Favorite course, play twilight for $35, no crowd, challenging and always in pretty good condition!!
Good Golf
I was impressed with the conditions of the fairways and greens now that it is summer. Well Done
Great course
Always fun and challenging. Greens rolling well, still little evidence of maintence from while back. But doesn't affect putts much if at all. Course is nice and green. Little slow. Mostly from twosomes not joining up to make foursomes and playing behind foursomes. Also, most players shoulda teed it forward! Tough watching people take four or five shots to make it on short par four in regulation. If you can't drive over 200 yards form the tee, don't play the tips!
A Hidden Jem
Played on a monday morning at 11 am and i had the course to myself; pop less than 3 hours! beautiful scenery with course in great shape. fairways plush with very little/no bare spots; greens also rolled true. only areas where it was overgrown or scrub like were areas that did not really come into play. smart use of water and resources where it really counts. would definitely would play again if i'm in the area.
The Oak Valley challenge!
Great course to challenge your skills. The undulating greens keep you on your toes. Pace of play is usually good to excellent. Not a beginner's course, so usually everyone playing is at intermediate to expert level. Excellent driving range/facility. Course is always well maintained and clean. Always a pleasure to play this course.
A Gem
One of the best courses we played in the area. Not a desert course, but one that sits down in a little valley for the most part. I loved this course as it had many elevation changes and a beautiful scenic layout.
No Military Discount
Beautiful Course great shape. Little pricy compared to like courses in the Area.
Difficult greens
Course is in excellent condition. The greens are very challenging, difficult to read breaks. Enjoyed playing the course for the first time.
Has gotten better with age
Have not played couse inn a number of years but it was as beautiful and challenging as well I remrmbered.
Excellent Course in the High Desert!
I went with a buddy who used to play here as a kid and couldn't have been more pleased. I've played a lot of courses in Palm Springs and I would play this course more than some of the nicer ones down there. The greens were FAST but it was a very good challenge! The grass around the greens and even the rough was absolutely amazing. I felt like I could really bring out my wedges for some fun short game play. Don't hesitate if you haven't been here yet. Check it out! A lot of nice trees along the course and very well maintained. If I was staying in the area I wouldn't hesitate to come back.
been here done that
I have played this course for over 25 years and it is still one of the most well maintained and picturesque
courses in the area. I rank it with the better public courses i the Palm Spring area!!
Oak valley
Great course greens super fast and always a challenge
Still a Favorite... despite conditions
Oak Valley remains one of my favorite golf courses and continues to be one of the best values in the region for the high quality course that it is. Unfortunately, I played this course on a day when the wind blew constantly at 25 MPH with gusts at 30-35 MPH. Of course my score reflected this additional challenge given the normal difficulty of the layout. On a slightly negative note, the greens were not what I'm accustomed to at this course. Too many ball marks (come on golfers do your part and fix your + another ball mark)! Already look forward to my next round at Oak Valley.. in calmer conditions and with better greens.
Enjoyed the course
This course has great character holes -very enjoyable to play and great value. The temp was a great deal colder than Palm Springs and the pace of play was extremely slow, which together spoiled our game, so we quit after 10 holes, as we were freezing and sitting around for ages on each shot. However we will definitely play there again and bring a fleecy. The green fee did not include range balls, which was a surprise.
What a great course.
Oak Valley is such a great course and is always in great condition. We played in four hours and only had to wait twice to hit a shot. We tee'd off early so they were not as busy as they looked later that morning. This time of the year they get alot of snowbirds from Palm Springs. We booked on Golfnow for $ 40.00 and for a quality course like this, that was a great price. Don't be fooled, this course plays tough from the blues if you stray of the fairway, but the fairways and greens were in great condition. This course is worth playing even if you have to drive a bit.
A good choice
As we played this course on a Friday of a holiday weekend, it wasn't overly crowded, the tee times were managed very well and the course was in good condition.
If you want a course that isn't real long but demands good shots then this is the place to play. A good shot is rewarded and a bad shot is penalized. Greens are fast and true and well lets say don't short side yourself.
Book a time and play, it is worth it.
Beware The Wind
I have played this course at least once annually while staying in Palm Springs for the winter. The cost is very reasonable and I have never had difficulty securing a tee time, mid week. I had heard that the wind can make it challenging and well that is definitely true, about a 2-3 club wind kept the game interesting!
Canadian
Had a great time well worth the 50 min. drive from Indian Wells
