Chula Vista Golf Course

Course was in very bad shape. Greens were splotchy bumpy. Took away from the fun of the game. A lot of dirt here and there.

The pace of play was better than normal. They plugged the greens a couple of weeks ago. you need to put with your rescue club. Other than the greens the course is not in real bad shape.

Chula Vista Muni is a real test of your skill as a golfer. If you need perfect conditions go elsewhere but if you're ready to accept golf in it's natural and imperfect form, CV will give you your money's worth. Normally, the greens are good but there are huge areas in several of the fairways of dirt and zero grass. It's too expensive to maintain the course properly but the staff does a pretty fair job. The layout is one of the best in the county and most holes have OBs and Laterals on each fairway. You have to think and execute well or you're toast. But, the 19th hole is very nice oasis to recount the battle and plan a return. It's a Par 73 course that challenges you to play well and punishes you when you don't. But, a good score is justifiably celebrated.

First time playing this course. Over exceeded our expectations. Lush fairways and greens rolled true. Can’t beat a $23 hot deal with cart here. Would have paid more the way this course is!

The fairways were in terrible shape. Large bare spots on several holes. My cart was pretty beat up and the brakes also locked up on the 3rd hole. The staff was very friendly.

Overall it wasn’t a bad experience, this was my first time playing golf down in San Diego and was in a rush to find a tee time and didn’t do enough research on that course. Once I got there the course looked like it was in decent shape, fairways had a few bald patches but it wasn’t bad at all. Greens were good and layout was a good challenge. Not extremely long so it made for a fun day of golf. Probably wouldn’t play there again if I had time to do some reserch but it was good for the price. Shot an 87.

We arrived about two minutes before our tee time but the line was so long in the pro shop that we had to wait for a new tee time behind others and didn’t get out until about thirty minutes after our original tee time. Then there were 3 groups on the first hole. We were then paired with another to make us a threesome. Pace lagged the whole day and after all was said and done we did not get to finish our round due to the overbooking and getting out much later than our scheduled tee time. We had to pick our kids up from school so we left after only playing 13 holes.

Course is not perfect but is playable. Given the cold weather , it is o.k. The green were a little bumpy and slower then what we have seen. The pace of play was vastly improved from past experience at this course. The price was great.

The tee boxes and the greens are in very decent shape. I think the course is pretty dry, hard to find the great approach on some holes, but for the most part the course is very playable and fair, even generous at times. I would recommend it to anyone trying to improve/match a score or something like simplifying a swing thought. I had a great time, shot my best score in years. Thanks Chula Muni.

The course is in decent shape considering how much play it gets. The greens were pretty fast and rolled consistently. There are some bald patches on the fairways but given the drought conditions, it’s better than a lot of other local courses. Great to see this course survive all the years.

I played this course 2 years ago while visiting San Diego. It was in very good condition then.I decided to play it again. The course has significantly deteriorated since then. Most all the fairways have huge patches of dirt. No grass and the areas with grass it is very thin.

The Clubhouse staff and snack bar staff were friendly but the player assistants out on the course were very cranky. Multiple times they told us to hurry up even though we were waiting on the group in front of us. They put a single off behind my group of 3. We had the single join us around hole 3 or 4 but they had put a 2 some behind that single so of course they were waiting on us.

Our group plays here 2-3 times a month. The course gets a lot of play and is in very good shape for the amount of lay it gets. The staff is very friendly and their lunch specials are a great incentive. The Marshall's seem to be reluctant to speak to slow players, due to lack of training possibly. Overall I still a good value.
