Chula Vista Golf Course

I started birdie at 1st hole. And made 3 birdies at first 5holes. Than I met stanley with his girl friend.
We was joined and played remand holes. And We had fantastic round. Especially Stanley made long chip in birdie at 16th hole. It's unbelievable shot that I had never seen before. So great something happens for you.

Good course to play with your kids. Staff is friendly and engaging.

A couple things stand out. First they allow froups of 5?!? Second it's a very small course with lots of par fives everybody thinks they can get on In 2 (more wait time) finally by #8 2 groups in play 2 groups waiting on box. Staff did make 1 effort to speed it up and told us we " would be flying now" what a joke left after 13 holes which took over 4 hours. Note to staff a group of 5 hacks will never work carts or not. Player here if you or only an extreme beginner

This course has great value for the $ you spend. 2 Green fees including a cart was about $70. Can't beat that. Greens are great, esp considering we are in a drought. I'd play here again.

Teed off at 1PM. Usually play is quick at this time. The 1st nine started slowing down about the 5th, and got worse from there. Frustrating when people group up in five then refuse to play quick!

Decided late Saturday to hit the ball Sunday morning. Went online and booked an 8 am tee time. Got there early to hit balls, but they were picking the range. Got out early with a foursome. Never waited on any holes, played in around 4:15.
While there is a drought, Chula Vista gets their water from wells, so they can water better than most. But, they have salt intrusion on their wells! Not good for grass! Fairways were aveerage, at least for San Diego area, where there were some bare spots and bad lies, but for the most part, okay. Greens were in good shape, although they have different grass creeping in on most of the greens. Needs to be cut out and fixed! Still, didn't really effect putts much, as grass was cut low. They putted very true.

The course is a fun track with many holes requiring good shot making decisions. I think we have some well thought out muni courses in San Diego but they are all in such poor shape, especially Chula Vista.

Most all fairways were terrible and your ball is either on thin grass or bare dirt. I felt almost penalized for hitting the ball into the fairway. The greens were in nice shape and the only negative was that they were slow.

The pace of play was terrible. We were stuck behind many groups playing very slow. Reading reviews of others this seems to be the normal here.

Overall though, I would play here again, but I'd be cautious of when that would be do to the pace of play.

Course is in ok shape, fairways are for the most part ok though I did get some bad lies in the fairways. Greens however were in good shape with good speed. Somewhat bumpy thanks to the contamination from several different types of grasses but they mow them as short as they can and as a result they rolled relatively smooth. Tees are a little rough and uneven but nothing out of the ordinary. For a high volume municipal course it's pretty good and a great value for the price as it's still one of the best courses from a design perspective that you can play.

You can't get a better deal than this. Course is on pretty good shape and has lots of challenges. Great play for the price.

There are some pretty rough/choppy spots on the fairways, but the greens are in perfect condition!

Course layout slightly above average but overall course condition below par. Price was a bit much for what you got.

COURSE WAS IN SO-SO CONDITION. CONSIDERING THE DROUGHT - NOT TOO BAD. FIRST TIME ON COURSE, SO GOOD TO HAVE A PLAYER THAT HAS SEEN THE COURSE FOR SOME DIRECTION. GREENS ROUGH - NEEDED MOWING. OVERALL A GOOD EXPERIENCE.

No problem with the staff which are friendly and helpful but the fairways are rough! Many are under repair with huge parts roped off and being work on. There was also frequent hard, thin grass/dirt in fairways. I even chipped of hardpan close to the green : ( Basically you get what you pay for but there are other courses playing nicer for the money right now. Bottom line its not worth driving very far for...at least at this time.

Our round was great but they were doing a lot of maintaince on the fairways which is good!

I paid $30.00 for 18 hole with cart. I feel like it's not worth it, because each hole you'll see maintenance tape on fairway. No water inside the ball cleaner and bathrooms are discusting. Never play here again. Go to bonita course better it's only less than 5 mins away.

This is a great course to play. Trouble to the right on most forces you to make good shots.

First let me say the staff was extremely friendly. Went out their way to pair me up with locals who know the course. My issue was the fairways. Many very large areas of complete hardpan in the fairways. Not brown grass, no grass. Locals said move the ball to grass. Greens were great! I would play the course again after they can help out these areas.

CV is in terrible shape. The worst I have ever seen it. It is riddled by bare spots, or should I say sections? Either way the bare areas are large and numerous. The fairways are awful and very hard, too hard to hold grass even. The price is enticing, but if you try it you'll wish you hadn't.
