Dos Osos Golf Club
About
Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Pick a different course to play!!!
This course is seriously under maintained. For the $40 green fees it seems like none of it goes into maintaining the course. The course seem like it hasn't been mowed in weeks . If you hit a ball into the rough, you might as well just drop another ball because you're not gonna find your previous ball or you're going to be looking for a while for it. Range balls were completely dead and probably shouldn't have been issued out. Finally the 14th tee box was moved about 100 yards onto the fairway. Will not return to play this course and do not recommend to anyone to play this course.
If you play fairways and greens it is a great course, but if not take 3 or 4 extra sleeves of balls.
deplorable condition
Played today course had not had the rough mowed in weeks. Golf balls hit into the rough were not findable. Not one sand trap had been raked in days if not weeks. Greens had not been mowed today and during Poa blooming greens were very slow and bumpy. Range balls were basically dead and should not have been used any longer. Recent rains in SanDiego area have really messed this course up but it doesnt look like anything has been done in the three weeks since the last rain. No maintenance workers were seen throughout the day. Pro shop employees didnt really seem to care telling us that the owner had hired lawn care people but they have not worked on the course in sometime. Dont waste your money going here unless you have alot of golf balls and alot of time to search for lost balls. our round took almost five hours because we had to search way too much and no one was ahead of us.
Course in good shape despite the recent rains
Greens were perfect. The par 5 on the back was converted to a par 3 due to the damage from recent storms. Good value for the money.
Worst course
The course was in very bad condition. It had suffered some water damage from an overflowed creek during the recent heavy rains. The rough was like a cow pasture. There was only one mowing machine running on the entire course. The course recently outsourced its course maintenance, and there were few workers there. The 'non Golfnow' green fees quoted me were $49. This is way overpriced for the condition of the course.
Good value and good greens
Good value. Greens were soft and somewhat challenging. Fairways were So-so and first/second cut I rate 3/10. There was 0 sand in any sand traps; hard pan dirt pits. Will play again for tho for < $30.
Let Us Know
Usually a big fan of Eagle Crest for the price point but i played this weekend and there were a numbers of areas of the course closed/blocked off due to what the rain has done. Obviously there isn't a problem with that but when booking a tee time maybe put an asterisk saying *Par 5 14 is playing as Par 3 this weekend* also it was just over a six hour round.
Keep it in the fairway
Much of the rough is simply overgrown weeds which makes finding your ball difficult. The fairways and greens were in great condition but the rough and sand traps were not maintained. No Marshall enforcing pace of play caused a 5 hour round even though the course was not very busy (teed off at 10:07 on Saturday). Overall it was worth it for the money.
Patrons need to fix their ball marks
I would have rather played on aerated or overgrown greens than to have had 9 out of every 10 puts' trajectory altered due to previous players' inconsideration. The staff was great - 10/10 - the regulars need to learn some common golf etiquette and repair their ball marks.
Round review
Have played the course a few times before. Was just disappointed to arrive, on our first day of vacation, to find that we could only play the back 9 twice. This was due to weather damage and I understand that. However we were not notified in time to charge our plans. (Email was sent, the day prior, however we were travelling....I believe someone could have called)? Staff was great!
A really good find, especially for the value. A good layout and some challenging holes. You will hit it straight or you will not find your ball. (fairways are sufficiently wide, just will punish a hook or slice.)
The only negative at all would be the condition of the rough. It could be a function of the plentiful rain, but the rough was quite high in many places, making it easy to loose a ball in it when it otherwise would be findable and hittable. I imagine under typical conditions that is not an issue.
poor conditions
the fairways and rough were in poor condition - they had not been cut in a number of days. To be fair - mother nature had dumped a lot of rain in the area over the last few weeks, but other courses in the area seemed to be in better shape.
Fun course if you can hit fairway every time
This is a fun course but the greens and fairways are not smoothed and it doesn't seem as if they cut their grass all that often also the employees are rude short and give off the feeling as if they hate their job.
Really played as expected
Recent rains and new management has brought this course back to excellent playability... rough was high but can understand that they want the whole course to have thick lush grass after it was so sparse during last summer drought... going back in two weeks to play it again !!!
Pretty good
Played on a holiday it was a little slow. Also just after 3 days of rain. Good shape and well layed out course. Played a few years ago and it's still a nice track to play. Our foursome in included a Canadian, two from down in San Diego and one from riverside county. All made a lengthy trip to play. Speaks to the notiriaty of this coarse. The Canadian was here visiting of course.
Good flow
Greens were excellent. Fairways decent, especially since last two months of rain. Wish rough was mowed. Hard to find ball. But, cart path only, very dry, not happy with that decision!!
Thoroughly enjoyable round of golf
Course is underused, allowing for a good pace of play. Due to the rain, the course was in excellent condition. The only thing which slowed down the pace of play was that it was cart path only, due to the recent rain.
Great value
Great course for a great price! Very fun layout with some spectacular views!
Aviara Stay & Play Package
Thanks for answering my e mail but it doesnt excuse the condition of the course. I wont be back unless I hear the course is in much better condition. I find it hard to believe that people think this is a good course for the money. I truly believe that this course will be just like Escondido Country Club, San Luis Rey and Fallbrook golf course closed and used to vineyards or just laying vacant.
