Dos Osos Golf Club
About
Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Pace of play
My tee off was for 12:30 we were a twosome and were playing behind two ladies but in front of them were 5 players that kept the pace at a snails crawl. I complained at the pro shop. Apparently they allow groups of more than four to play together after noon. It's common courtesy to allow quicker smaller groups to play through but I guess this is not monitored or suggested by the pro shop. Turned out to be a five hour round disappointing
Eagle Crest
The course was in need of grooming. I do understand they received quite a bit of rain but almost every hole needed some work. Fairways were in pretty good shape but some of the rough was really overgrown. We lost a few balls just off of the fairway. Wasn't a grass issue, it was weeds.
Great Course
I love the course, because its a quiet course and lots of fun.
Course improvement on target
I had heard from friends that the course had gone through some hard times in the past 6 months. I've always enjoyed playing here, but stayed away due to those comments.
Decided to give the course a try and was very impressed with the improvements. Although the fairways were a little spotty in places, the course in general was in good shape. Greens are a little slow, but fair.
Got a great deal through GolfNow.com for $26. More than a fair price for the course as it is today. Pace of play was fantastic. As a 3-some, we finished in 3:45. Never had to stop and only saw 3 other golfers while out on the course, and that was with a 10:00 tee time.
Course it better but the management is not
My wife and I used to play here 1 or 2 times a week. We prefer a faster pace of play and were willing take early tee times to allow for our under 3 hour rounds when playing as a twosome. Eventually the course conditions got so bad that even the $25 fee was too much. With the recent rains the conditions got better so we decided to try again. When we arrived at the course we were told that the course would not be opened until after our tee time but were told we could go off then if we started on 10. Did so but on 17 found they had put out the tournament shotgun and 2 groups on the tee. Went back to the club house and were told we could go out and jump the tournament groups on one. Played 2 thru 9 and then went back to play 17 and 18 but could not play 1 as groups were now going off. Poor management and customer service. Also first time I have ever lost a ball in a greenside bunker as hit it into right bunker on #7 and when I got there it had over a foot of muddy water in it and could not even see my ball. Not sure why they would accept a tee time when they were not open or why they would put us out when there was no way we could finish 18 even though we played our first 7 holes in 1 hour and 10 minutes.
VERY fun course
This course had had a TON of rain - but it was actually well drained. Not as "sloppy" as we expected. The layout is so fun - greens were very good - people actually fix their ball marks - They were a little slow, but to be expected given the weather.
We had a great day - it is WELL worth playing if you are in the area.
Over for experience was great !!
Super layout a course where you need to place once before you get full course experience !!!
front 9 closed due to flooding
only the back 9 was open due to flooding after 3 days of rain in the San Diego area. Cart path only as this course winds through the valley. some elevation changes, greens were in great shape and the fairways were growing back in after the long drought. Over-seeding apparently done fairly well. A great play for the price.
Back from the dead
Conditions have totally changed from 6weeks ago. From bare fairways to good grass throughout. Highly recommmend.
Soggy Bottom Course
Course was in a surprisingly good condition. "Cart Path Only" makes for a very slow round. Yardage markings are near non-existant. Absolutely love the layout but don't care for gated access.
played this course last month and the fairways were bald in many areas, came back and this time they were in much better condition. course is fun to play and the staff is very nice. I don't hit a very long ball but the layout gives me the change to get on in two. The greens were rolling fast and you can read the breaks, so you can drop a putt if you read them right. Par three's were fun to hit.
Don't waste your time
This place is not in great shape at all. Guy in pro shop didn't even greet me when I walked in. I live local so it wasnt that bad to walk away from there. People coming here out of state to play should really avoid this place, this isn't so cal golf
A nice track, but...
This is the second time I've played this course. The course is going through some tough times - water main break that hurt the greens & fairways (now repaired). Staff is friendly, though a bit understaffed.
I enjoyed the layout immensely. I plan on keeping this course on my rotation.
Like Summer
The course is getting better. Fairways are coming back. Always enjoy playing here when it isn't over crowded.
Irrigation System Had Broken Down
I used to play this course quite often 10 years ago and really enjoyed it but moved away to an area with several courses nearby. I figured I would give this course a try again.
I was dismayed by the condition of the course.
First, let me inform you that the irrigation system collapsed and a new maintenance crew has been hired to rebuild a course that was heavily browned and/or died due to lack of proper maintenance. They are in the process of bringing the course back but it won't be ready probably until Spring 2017.
Major portions of the fairway and tee boxes were dead or heavily browned out. The tee boxes have been chewed up with unrepaired divots and the boxes themselves are not level and are heavily sloped. Between the divots and the awkward stances due to the non-level ground it was often difficult to tee off. A number of the fairways I was hitting off of bare dirt.
The greens were in fantastic shape
If management will level the tee boxes and reseed, and bringing the fairways back to life, this course could regain its luster.
Everyone was very polite and hopeful but before I try again next Spring I will call the course directly and ask how far along the repairs are.
EC has grass again!
Eagle crest has grass again in the fairways! The value here has always been great and the new manager has really overcome many challenges this summer with no water for irrigation in the fairways and tees... The staff is friendly and the grill is now serving great burgers and micro beers on tap. The greens were rolling great and the turf conditions throughout the course have become much better since my last round back in August.
We enjoyed our day all 12 of us out for a birthday party and scored the weekend golf and lunch special which included a super burger choice of sides and 2 beverages only 42.00 per person... Thank you !
Terrible condition
The course was in awful condition!!!
Front Desk need common sense training
Got a hot deal yesterday and unfortunely sporadic rain and drizzle all day. Tee time was 1240. I checked in around 1140. The front desk told me I have to wait for other player to share cart and tee off at 1240. That's fine if the course is busy but nobody around and there were only 6 cars parked. Can't even practice due to drizzle. My cart sharee finally arrived and we tee off at 1220. Anyway, to make the story short, I was suprised by the poor condition of the golf course. Mostly dirt on the fairway and brown everywhere. Some greens are descent. This course was beautiful last time I played it a year ago. Now it is run downed and depressingly ugly. Worst of all the staff has no common sense. This guy should be let go. It's bad for business. The course looks like it's being intentionaly run downed and discouraging golfers to justify closure.
Aviara Stay & Play Package
Thank you for your review and feedback eycabrera. We apologize for the course conditions as we are working hard on restoring the course and getting back up to par. Please come back and see us again soon with all the new changes.
