If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Didn’t disappoint
Very windy, but still enjoyed the round due to great staff and course conditions. A slow group ahead, but played through and it was smooth sailing.
Not a bad place to play
Course was in much better conditions compared to what it is like in summer and early fall. Course was busy at lunch but even with a 1pm tee time there was no back up or waiting. Would not pay full price but the cheaper afternoon prices make it worth it.
All holes somewhat similar.
Not much variation in terrain. Enjoyed the par 3's . Water and bunkers tricky. It was hot and quite windy but overall a great day.
Great Course
Played a round with my 10 year old daughter, while my son was on the bag for me. Every other golfer and staff member working there, were so welcoming of my kids. Challenging enough for my daughter, fun enough for dad, great time had by all!! We will definitely come back and play here more often.
Too Slow!
The course is a very good public course but they pack golfers on the course and don’t monitor pace of play. A 4:45 round is too slow!
Fun track, very good condition
It'd been a few years since I last played here. Staff very friendly, including the fun and delicious fare at the clubhouse!
Good bang for the buck
Big rock has a very cool atmosphere inside the proshop and bar. Kinda like a hardrock cafe. The course is in great condition and cant beat the price
SO Slow
We played on a beautiful Saturday afternoon but right from the start, the pace was terrible. We had to wait on every single hole and there was no marshal to help things move along. The tee times were also 7 minutes apart which is probably why things got so backed up. We ended up leaving after 12 holes because when we got to the 13th hole, there was a group on the green, one in the fairway and 2 groups waiting to tee off at the tee.... unacceptable! I booked this course because it got good reviews but I realize now that the reviews of the Pub are included so not really accurate
