If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Charming Older Urban Golf Course
Wide fairways, excellent bunkers, fast greens, all well maintained. Course is tightly nestled in quaint housing development and commercial area requiring street crossings to next hole in several places. Lovely palm trees throughout.
5.5 Hour round
7 minute tee times are a recipe for a death March. Crazy how long this round took. Obviously maximizing revenue at player’s expense.
Bare naked greens
Super speedy buzz cut greens that are super hard as in rock hard. No pun intended. Need better directional signage to range and back 9. Overall 3.5 o/o 5.
Rangers Needed Out There
Have played here 2x past 2 weeks. The pace is V E R Y. S L O W… to say the least. There was a couple in front of us who did not understand the concept of ready golf and the man spent most of his time fishing golf balls out of the water hazards while we were waiting to tee off and the groups behind us too. We could have called the club house or starter, but, there should be rangers out there. A friend of ours playing with us said he had the most excruciating slow round the week before. Could only get 14 in and it took over 4 hours. Speed things up!
Fun course
Only complaint we have is that like a lot of courses in the valley, their prices have gone up significantly. Fun track with great greens and super 19th hole.
Great Day!
Course was in great shape. Pretty wide open and greens were in good shape. Pace of play was 4 hours 10 minutes and starter was friendly to deal with and worked to keep things going. Big Rock Pub overlooking 18th hole was great! Classic Rock memorabilia and good food with friendly service.
Fav course on my 10 day visit to Palm Springs and would play again!
Great course
This course was worth the time and money spent there. Everything from the tee box to the green was in excellent condition. Pace of play was perfect, no waiting. I’ll definitely be back.
Beautiful course with mountain views
Great course In excellent condition especially the fast greens. Only complaint was the lack of sand in all the traps. Very difficult to come out of green side bunkers without sculling the ball.
