Very fun layout

Course layout was very fun challenging but fair. Bunkers could use some work sand was very hard. Staff was awesome very friendly. Starter was friendly. Greens were slow but expected it because they just over seeded. Would play again just wish driving range was open.

**Golf Review: PGA West Dunes Course**

I recently played the PGA West Dunes Course over Labor Day weekend, and while I'm always prepared for rough course conditions during the holiday, this round was particularly challenging.

First, the weather was intense, with temperatures soaring into the upper 100s. Despite the extreme heat, the course's preparation for player hydration was disappointing. We were only provided with two water bottles at the start, and there was really just one water station available on the course. Considering the conditions, this was inadequate. To add to the frustration, the cart person came around late in the round, well after we had already started feeling the effects of the heat.

As for the course itself, the greens were extremely stiff, almost to the point of being gimmicky. It was difficult to get any real consistency in putting, as the ball would either roll too far or stop abruptly depending on where it landed. This made for a frustrating experience, especially when you’re trying to factor in the challenging layout of the Dunes course.

Overall, the combination of tough playing conditions and lack of adequate hydration options made for a less-than-ideal day of golf. While I usually enjoy a good challenge, the Dunes Course fell short in both comfort and playability this time around.

Tough track

Great conditions for summer, really fun. Don't let the yardage fool you, green complexes are no joke!

Tough course in the heat even at 7am tee off.

Very challenging course. Played well but the heat affected our groups playing abilities. No food was available except pre made sandwiches. There is like no shade on the golf course and there was no breeze. The beverage cart employee was around often to keep us hydrated which was nice, but allegedly players ambassadors had chilled towels available. We never got one and we were feeling the heat. Sort of disappointing. Greens were slowish, but I could see how if they were too fast the course would be extremely difficult. Very cool layout. Just mildly miserable when it’s 110 outside at 9am. Would love to come back when the weather was more tolerable. Starter was very professional and informed us well on the course which was appreciated.

Review

Course for summer conditions was great. Greens were solid and in great shape. Still too pricey given the time of year for golf in the desert. Bring back the great desert summer deals. Courses are not in top shape with hardly anyone playing in the afternoon. The price point may discourage golfers.

Bring the Heat

Played a 12:45 round, 7/17/24. And let me start by saying the course did everything they could to keep players cool, aside from coming around with more ice towels like they said. Greens are rock hard, but they said the redone greens take 12-16 to months come around. So around November they should be really good. Otherwise the course is fantastic, but I cannot stress enough, keep yourself cool playing in the summer heat.

Dunes Course

Staff were very friendly from the people in the pro shop to the starter. Pace of play was surprisingly slow for this time of year. We waited on just about every hole. The course was in fairly decent condition considering it was July. Greens were very firm. The course is appropriately named The Dunes. Lots of bunkers which were very deep.
