PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course

We played on Sunday. The course is in excellent condition. We play here every year when we come to Palm Springs.

Next year we'll try the Mountain Course..i'm told the views are spectacular.

I highly recommend the Dunes. I enjoy playing here every year

Layout pretty tough for No GPS. Greens almost unfair with poor pin position on undulations and no grass on first cut. It would take a few rounds to score to handicap. It is beautiful though. I might be convinced to try it again. 😉

Pace of play = incredible

Greens = challenging and great

Annoying unfriendly Marshalls.

Wife was told she wasn't allowed to fish balls from ponds while our foursome was playing,

Never, in my 35 years of playing golf, have I ever heard of this.

.. and no. The pace of play wasn't impeded.

This is a typical Pete Dye course where no good shot goes unpunished. The greens are all elevated and surrounded with mounds and bunkers, rewarding luck over shotmaking.

The staff in the Golfshop were condescending. No cheerful welcome on our check-in. Furthermore, after paying my green fee, and checking on my clubs, I returned to buy a pokerchip ball mark. My request to pay for the pokerchip was met with a scowl and groan.

Clubhouse bar / restaurant was closed at 5:00 pm.

The Dunes Course is always a challenge, but a fun one. The course is well maintained with gray fairways and greens.

Only problem was the slow groups in front, and a lack of marshaling to allow the rest of us to play at a reasonable pace.

Course and greens were in great shape staff were friendly and helpful remember to club up on approach shots as greens are crowned consistent green speed a real pleasure to play

Marshalls on the course were not pleasant. Tried to rush us along even though we were on average 10 mins ahead of schedule and finished under 4 hours. They certainly took away from the enjoyment..

Very strange, for some reason the marshal was rude about us speeding up, when in fact we were waiting on every hole. For some reason he cowardly singled us out instead the meat heads in front of use who were behind the group ahead of them, wonder why ? 😂

He failed to realize the group behind us was waiting cos A) we were waiting, and B) they were a twosome.

View from elevated clubhouse was spectacular, unfortunately that was the highlite of this course.

Diving range was nice which made me think the course would follow suit. I couldn't have been more wrong. This course was built on what appeared to be a flood plain that was designed with tall banks of grassy weeds that lined most every fairway on both sides and because of there steepness almost unplayable.

The greens were like concrete and were unable to hold any approach shot. With all the nice couses that Palm Springs area has to offer I selected a dud this round.

With that being said the staff was very friendly and the weather was fantastic.

Beautiful course and layout. Course was in immaculate condition. Pace was a little slow, but I plan on playing again.

Pro shop check in and welcome.-average. Starters..-excellent...Pace of play. -good. Greens..- slowish. Course conditions - good. Might play again depending on price -.not worth over $110.
